Vehicle Description

Exterior : 4/10
Original un-modified condition but damaged in a few areas and missing some factory equipped parts.
Has rust on passenger side rail near fender as noted in picture. Flat spot and isolated so should be an easy fix.Has damage on the passenger rear corner that appears to be from a tree collision. This one will need more attention as it has a few different types of damage present. In addition to these two areas of damage there is a handful of smaller dents, scratches/scraps present throughout.
It is missing the roll bar, windshield, and fuel tank.
The wheels on it are the non-original but highly desirable vintage 16x5 sized steel wells with period correct 1967-71 hub caps in good shape.
Aside from the damage/rust issues noted, the body is in decent shape. It is not twisted or tweaked, rusty, modified or altered, etc. and it does have most if not all of its little pieces that seem to go missing.
Interior : 5/10
Interior is mostly present and in decent shape minus the fuel tank missing and seats needing an upholster or replacement job. They also are missing the hardware necessary to bolt them in.
There is a small hole in the drivers floorboard that appears to be derived through an impact or sorts. The floorboards have surface rust but are not warped or beat up. The rear floorboard is a bit wavy and has surface rust but no damages or rust concerns. The dash is in great shape but it missing the radio or whichever piece of equipment that initially went there.
The one year only big gauge is in excellent shape (I once was offered $1000 for this part alone).Needs work but definitely a great starting point.
Mechanical : 5/10
This is the section that makes this year of Jeep quite desirable and a strong collectors item after a stock restoration.
This is the last year before the wheelbase increased to make room for the addition of a V8 engine option. Also the last year of the 160hp/235ftlb. 225ci V6 Dauntless engine which many say is the perfect fit in size and power for the vehicle. This was a 4.5 year run for this engine option. It has the flanged Dana 44 rear axle instead of the tapered design, this was a 1970.5 and up change.
I am missing the carburetor and one of the dist. wires has been chewed. All other mechanical parts are present that I know of but will need TLC as this Jeep has been sitting a while.
The chassis and drivetrain all look to be in great shape with no rust issues, damage, or signs of any major fluid leaks. Though the clutch pedal does not depress and the dual long tube headers with side outlets I am going to guess is not original.
Conclusion :
I have a clean title for a relatively clean Jeep. There are many cheap Jeeps out there and I understand the price point this one is listed at may not be suitable for all. However, it has a lot of positives going for it condition wise and being the last year of the short CJ-5s with the mechanical options it has for the year make this a strong buy for someone interested in those qualities, especially if a collectors item/stock restoration is desired. It is difficult finding an original un-modified vintage Jeep.
