Original 1971 Jeep CJ5 equipped with the 225ci Dauntless V6 in Blue with 108k
Vehicle Description
Hello, good day. I have up for sale an original 1971 Jeep CJ-5 project along with a few more vehicles I dont have the time to finish them and so I decided to sell so maybe someone else can. If interested in others I have, willing to make a bulk deal. This particular Jeep is a great candidate for a restored collectors vehicle for a number of reasons which I will talk about here in a bit. But it could be a great fun or off road driver as well. Someone put 108k miles on it, so it must do that well. The Good:It is the last year of the short wheelbase CJ5s. AMC purchased Jeep that year and in 1972 the wheelbase was made longer to make room for their 304 V8.Because it is the last year of short (Early) CJ5s, it has had more time for small updates and refinements.Has the flanged Dana 44 rear axle which came out half way through 1970.Has the 225ci Dauntless V6 engine which was an optional engine from 1967-71 and advertised 160hp.Front and rear live axles and manual transmission.Data tags still in place. One year only center gauge in excellent shape.Equipped with highly desirable 16x5 steel wheels with matching hub caps in good shape.Dual side exit exhaust with headers.Rust free minus one spot seen in photos on passenger side sill, floorboards have surface rust but are solid.Clean title listing 8125 miles, Box B for odometer rollover.Un-modified and original short wheelbase CJ-5Arguably the best year if wanting an ECJ5.The Bad:Does not run and will need a decent amount of work to run, the engine turns.Lots of dents on the body and body damage on both rear corners.Rust spot on passenger side sill as seen in photos.Missing rear driveshaft, carburetor, battery, windshield, roll bar and maybe more.In conclusion, this is a great project foundation if wanting one, if not the best year of CJ-5 as the longer wheelbase V8 CJ5s are a mixed bag of desirability. Original un-modified Jeeps are difficult to come across, so even for something to get running and just drive, you will know things are how they came from the factory and will not have to be un-doing someone else's handiwork. That last bit is often overlooked but can be a make it or break it when it comes to getting a vehicle back on the road or restoring. I purchased this Jeep originally because of that reason but I just dont have the time to get started on it. Additionally, the 16x5 steel wheels and gauge cluster in its current condition are huge selling points if looking to restore or sell and recoup some funds. Thank you for looking at my listing. This listing is being posted for seven days, best offer will be chosen at the end of that time, open to all offers. Deposit of $250 due within 48 hours, if holding for more than 10 days I will need half of the purchase price to be paid up front. I am flexible though as things happen, just let me know. I accept payment through a Bank-to-Bank transfer or with Zelle, or Cash upon pickup. Willing to work with you if shipping, zip code is 85735 for that.
