1945 CJ2AWillys Jeep. Frame off restoration brought back to near stock condition "as purchased new" as it came off the line. Original engine freshened up with rings, bearings and seals. Transmission is the correct side-shifting "3 on the tree". Rebuilt period correct transfer case and over-drive added for drivability. From the new front bumper to the rear hitch, it is a remarkable vehicle. VIN number is 11793 so only 1792 CJs were made before this one. Thought to be only one of 100-200 surviving stock 1945 left making this a rare one. If a part wasn't replaced it was carefully sandblasted and repainted to maintain stock status. I have receipts for most parts that now make up this unique vehicle.

From across the parking lot you can tell this is a 1945 CJ by looking at the drivers side tool indents found on a military MB model that are on this one from the factory. The story is that the factory was learning how to build civilian Jeeps after the war while using up surplus military parts on the early production. A true 1945, like this one, will have many military parts including: steel spoke steering wheel, floating axle rear end, engine with cam chain, nut window operators, large military oil filter, smooth clutch /brake pedals, side exhaust. Even the engine paint tells a story of These early ones being sort of "prototype" models so they used whatever paint they had on hand.
