Vehicle Description

1947 Willys 4x4 Jeep TruckThis is a 1947 Willys Jeep 4x4 truck, 1styear of production. It served one family on a California ranch for over 74 years. I spoke with a family member 76 year old Jack Barnett who told me he learned to drive in this old Willys truck. He said his Grandfather bought it new in '47 and they used to haul firewood and hay along with many trips to the town feed store. He said his uncle installed the rebuilt V6 3.8 Buick motor in the truck around 2014, as he hauled a trailer with a small excavator, that's why it has the air brake unit installed on the dash. The air brake control is no longer operable but has a cool look as does the original brass fire extinguisher mounted behind the driver seat. The truck has been mechanically refurbished over the years and is in good running condition. I have a folder full of receipts showing what work has been done and prices paid, it shows over $8000 invested over the last 15 years and including receipts for $5600 as recently as 2022. The interior is all complete with headliner, 60/40 seats and leather vinyl door panels, all glass is good no cracks and the windows roll up and down like they should. New 12v gauges mounted under the dash that show all v6 engine performance. All lights work high and low beams, blinkers, tail lights and it has a warm cabin heater that works fine. New clutch and brake pedals were installed at time of engine replacement. It has a 3 speed T-90 transmission that shifts and works fine along with the 4 wheel drive transfer case unit with high, low range with locking hubs. This old truck, which I was told is called "Shortcut ", has the original rear end with low 5.38 gears. Top speed is around 45mph which is fine for driving into town or out on country roads. The speedometer is not working so I bought a new cable but it is still not working, all other gauges work fine. Being a California truck the rust is minimal, no rust holes in the body and the floors are solid the bed has surface rust with bump and bruises. I put a sheet of 1/2" plywood in the bed for looks. This is a great old Willys truck with some neat history. Still room for improvements if so desired. It has powder coated black wheels, the tires all five are in very good condition BF Goodrich with the white writing mounted facing inward, you could change them back facing out, includes Hi Lift Jack. This is a good running truck and should give you years of adventure. I personally like the rugged look with all the dings and dents and it will damn near climb up a tree if you want. It has been up here in Washington State for 3 years, used for hunting and trips to town always garaged. I have another project keeping me busy at the moment. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have, please have a look at my feedback and bid with confidence. I will help load the Willys into your choice of transport with a video of the process sent to you at that time. Any questions please call 360-6705496 PST West Coast. Thanks.
