Vehicle Details

You are about to bid on perfectly running, driveable 1971 VW bus. I bought it as a shell from Texas. Stripped it, and rebuilt absolutely everything underneath and inside. The only thing remaining to make perfect is body work and paint. I like the dents/dings the way they are and would rather show true condition than hide how clean this bus is under paint. There is zero rust on the original 96k mile chassis or body. Flaws? Yes. There is a bad bondo patch on lower rear 1/4 where someone backed into the previous owner in a parking lot. Handyman repair at best, will need bondo removed, sanded, and toss primer on it. Nose has dent damage that can be knocked back out, passenger door too. Fix it right it won’t need much. Hagerty eval has these at over $25k, upward of $60k. You can drive it home as is.

The good:

Completely built 1835cc. Dual 40 Kadrons by kaddie shack. Mofoco 041 big valve heads, Engle cam, welded fan, CB magnaspark ignition/distributor, sidewinder exhaust with custom bullet stainless mufflers, serpentine, etc etc. upright conversion hand laid fiberglass “tins” with proper early bay mustache bar. Engine has roughly 3k miles on it. Kennedy stage 3 clutch. External oil filter and durale oil cooler w/ fan. All new upholstery and padding front/rear/ as well as Z bed. Vintage speed shifter, billet/wood steering wheel, bus barn shelf and cup holders. Coleman cooler. All new brakes, ball joints, tie rods, front disc calipers, bushings, etc etc. zero chassis issues being mostly new. BFG tires, on empi 15” aluminum slots. Custom roof rack. Head knocker is custom, made from my old SIMS snowboard and a suburban hood, looks OEM. Hardwood floors, new carpet on seat risers. Clean buses are getting harder to find. This just needs paint to be perfect. Everything works, including heat. Drive it to the DMV and enjoy it. I’ve enjoyed it for 8-9 years. My oldest learned to drive in it, went to prom in it, cruised to shows. I’m in market for a travel trailer with a/c and bathroom so my entire family can camp with me. If you follow IMSA racing, this is the iconic bus you’d see at Daytona Rolex 24, and turn 7 at Sebring. It has its own insta page @1972volksbus. Payment in cash or bank check, clear title will be given once payment clears. Sold as is, where is in Jacksonville, FL. Pick up or shipping is buyer responsibility. If you’re within an hour or 2 from North Fl, PM me to arrange meet up after payment clears. I’ll send video of it running and driving if you message me. I drive it weekly, and always fill it with non-ethanol gas. It’s a VW, it leaks oil on driveway like all VWs do. Doesn’t burn oil. Listed on marketplace, so seller has right to cancel auction if sold.
