Vehicle Description

1984 VW Quantum Turbo Diesel Wagon, 5 speed manual. Mechanically near new and in excellent running condition. We bought it from an estate sale years ago, the vehicle was stored inside and it shows. Just about everything you can think of mechanically, has been replaced new in the last year. Engine received a complete overhaul in Cache Valley Utah (Horsepower Farm in Benson) by a machine shop that has been servicing the auto industry probably about 30+ years. New: engine, A/C, Injector Pump, all seals, Timing Belt, Block Heater, Turbo, Fuel Injectors, Hood Shocks, Washer Pump, Alternator, Radiator, Starter, Shifter Linkage, Tires, shocks / struts, Alignment, Brakes, Clutch and some other miscellaneous things to make sure this vehicle is reliable. Starts and runs like new - even in cold Idaho winter days... The shop in Logan Utah that restores older vehicles, does very extensive restoration projects costing all the way up to $100,000+ We have all paperwork and receipts for this restoration, with over $15,000 invested in this German Autobahn machine. Back in the 1980's - VW did comparison testing against BMW and the Quantum won in some categories. The car drives solid and always starts without any hesitation. For the most part, the interior is in excellent condition, with the exception of the headliner - which sags. Depending on your personality, either live with it or redo. Hasn't bothered us. A/C blows cold and was converted to modern standard.Unique and very rare car with NO modern computer nannies... or electronics! Absolute joy to drive. It does have couple of minor / small rust spots and a dent in the back corner. Selling for less than what we have into it. Many older cars with high miles and not nearly the extensive restoration are selling for just as much - if not more. So, having said all of that... if you like an old school Turbo Diesel VW... with lots of room, this is a good one. 40+ to near 50 MPG. And it is not a slow car, like many others of this age tend to be. The new engine has less than 5,000 miles and all of the other work was done at the same time. We are in Preston Idaho. Thanks, Tom
