1987 VW Vanagon Wolfsburg Edition - very rare

Vehicle Description
Wolfsburg Vanagons are becoming very rare and are among the most sought-after classic VW vans. The Wolfsburg Edition is known for its versatility – it can be used as a passenger van, a camper van or a cargo hauler. This van has been a San Diego County vehicle it’s entire life. I’m the 3rd owner. It has 202,877 miles, which is extremely low for a vehicle that’s more than 38 years old. The drive train is in very good condition. I installed a rebuilt engine about 85,000 miles ago and have been keeping it in good shape ever since. The body and interior are in much better than average condition for a vehicle of this age (check the pictures).Unique features of the Wolfsburg Edition:• Install the two jump seats (behind the driver and passenger side front seats) and it’s a 7-passenger van with a lot of cargo room in the back.• Pop-up table for meals, card games while camping, etc.• Remove the jump seats and it’s a 5-passenger van with added cargo space behind the front seats. (I have packed four bicycles into the van when it’s in this configuration – in addition to two kids in the back seat.)• Fold down the rear seat and you have a very big bed for camping• It’s also a great cargo carrier. With the rear seat folded down you can lay full 4x8 sheets of plywood flat on the bed and stack them up two feet high.I have used this van for surf trips in Mexico; camping in the desert; driving on school field trips and carrying cargo from Home Depot. The last picture shows how we used the van for social distancing during COVID.You can use this van as a beach cruiser, camper van and cargo hauler.Or it’s prime for restoration. If you can find Wolfsburgs these days, they are either already restored and selling for around $50,000, or they are very beat up and not restorable. It’s almost impossible to find an un-restored Wolfsburg in this condition.Other than the rebuilt engine, everything else is original. Here’s a report from Google on the price range for ’87 Wolfsburg Edition Vanagons:“The price range for a 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Wolfsburg Edition can vary widely, but generally, you can expect to pay around $32,150 for one in good condition. However, prices can fluctuate significantly depending on factors like condition, mileage, options, and overall history. Some examples from public auctions show a highest sale price of $54,075 and a lowest sale price of $22,313.”This van is in much better than average condition for an ’87 that hasn’t been restored. I’ll let it go for $13,000.Only serious inquiries please.
