Vehicle Description

Rare Factory-Built 1972 Mini Mark by Bremen Motor Sport – Reliable, Ready to Drive, and Show-Worthy!

The Mini Mark is a factory-built specialty car, not a kit car. It was manufactured in Bremen, Indiana, by the Bremen Motor Sport Company, a well-regarded builder known for quality craftsmanship. Unlike many replicas, this vehicle was designed for durability and ease of maintenance. Built primarily on a Volkswagen Beetle chassis, the Mini Mark benefits from VW's reliable engineering, easy servicing, and widely available replacement parts. Sales literature from the time also mentions a Ford Pinto chassis option, but most were based on the VW platform.

The Bremen Motor Sport Company was founded around 1965 by partners DeWayne Creighton and Omar Hostetter, who initially built Citation dune buggies. After ordering and assembling dune buggy kits from California, they decided to design and build their own vehicles locally in Bremen, Indiana.

About This Car

This particular Mini Mark has a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle title, as was standard practice for these factory-built cars. Bremen imported brand-new VW chassis with engines, wheels, and suspension, ready for their custom fiberglass bodies to be mounted—making licensing much easier.

Features & Upgrades:
  • Chassis & Title: 1972 VW Beetle frame and title
  • Engine: 1600cc single-carb VW engine with flow-through exhaust tips, giving it a deeper, richer sound (no chirpy VW flute noise)
  • Transmission: 4-speed manual transmission
  • Convertible Option: Removable hardtop – secured with just four bolts, transforming the car into an instant convertible. When the top is on, snap-in side curtains provide additional weather protection.
  • Electronics & Safety: Fully functional brake lights, headlights, turn signals, wipers, and all necessary electrical components.
  • Interior: Upgraded carpet, interior panels, seat cushions, shift knob, and side mirrors.
  • Exterior Styling: Inspired by a hot rod look, featuring chrome smoothie wheels for a sleek, classic appearance.
  • Unique Design: The hood on these cars is an actual Lincoln Mk IV hood, which is how the Mini Mark got its name!
  • New Upgrades:
    • New chrome wheels with new tires
    • New brakes
    • New rear air shocks
    • New CV joint
    • Newer battery
Condition & Driving Experience:
  • Mileage: 50,000 miles
  • Body & Paint: There are some minor hairline surface cracks and chipping in the gel coat on the fenders (see photos), but this does not affect the car’s structure. The fiberglass is thicker than a Corvette’s, making it extremely durable and solid. The small cosmetic imperfections can be repaired with DIY kits available on eBay, similar to those used for boats.
  • Rust-Free Floor Pans: The floors are rust-free, and the battery section (a common problem area in VW-based cars) has a new welded-in quarter pan section for reinforcement.
  • Reliable & Road-Ready:
    • This car has been regularly driven to cruise nights and car shows, performing well in nice weather.
    • Cruises comfortably at 50–55 mph, steers straight, and brakes properly as expected.
    • Unlike most specialty cars on the market, this one is ready to drive immediately. Simply put plates and insurance on it, and head straight to your next car show! No need to spend thousands getting it roadworthy—it’s already there.
A Great Investment with Room for Personalization

This Mini Mark is a solid foundation for anyone looking to customize it further, but it’s also ready to enjoy as-is. You won’t have to dump tons of money into mechanical work just to get it on the road. And if you ever decide to sell it, you won’t lose a fortune—unlike many project cars, this one is already in great shape.
