This 1963 Studebaker Avanti is one of 1,833 R2 examples produced for the 1963 and 1964 model years. Chassis 63R3080 was delivered new to Whattoff Motors in Ames, Iowa, and remained with the original owners until 2000. It underwent a refurbishment at Myer’s Studebaker Parts of Duncan, Ohio, commissioned by the second owner in 2007 and 2008. The Jet Thrust 289ci V8 left the factory equipped with a Paxton supercharger and was rated at 290 horsepower when new. The original engine was bored .040″ over and magnafluxed before being fitted with a balanced rotating assembly featuring a polished crankshaft, reconditioned connecting rods, and replacement pistons as part of a rebuild completed in the mid-2000s by Myers Studebaker. Transmission was upgraded by retrofitting a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and overhauling the brake and steering systems before being acquired from their estate by the previous owner in 2021. Finished in Avanti Turquoise over Turquoise vinyl, the car rides on 15″ steel wheels with spoke-style covers and is equipped with aTwin-Tractionlimited-slip differential as well as front disc brakes. Inside, 2+2 seating is accompanied by a Ken Harrison Enterprises AM/FM cassette stereo. Service in preparation for the sale has included rebuilding the carburetor as well as replacing the battery, master cylinder, and rear wheel cylinders, and new tires.Paint is mostly all original, in great shape for its age, a few imperfections, with some touchups-probably done at the original dealership, according to previous owner.
