Vehicle Description

STK 4054 1964 Studebaker Avanti
The 1964 Studebaker Avanti was the final model year of Studebaker's bold, futuristic coupe that debuted in 1962. Designed by famed designer Raymond Loewy and his team, the Avanti was marketed as America's first high-performance personal luxury car. It featured a sleek, aerodynamic fiberglass body that lacked the conventional front grille, a design undeniably ahead of its time. The body even featured a padded roll bar integrated into the Coupe's roof. This fully restored 1964 Avanti Coupe is a handsome example of a classic Studebaker. The exterior was professional stripped and carefully refinished in Avanti Gold (P6333). Accents include handsome chrome and steel wheels with distinctive Avanti wheel covers that mount Hankook radials. Inside, the luxurious Fawn/Elk vinyl interior has also been carefully restored. The original Studebaker low-back front bucket seats have been replaced with practical high-back buckets from a '96 Pontiac Trans AM and 3-point seat/shoulder belts (original seats included with car). New carpeting, door cards, headliner and rubber trim pieces have been fitted. Convenience features include A/C (rebuilt components), console, power tinted windows, 'burlwood' dash accents and an aftermarket AM/FM/Aux sound system.
Horsepower is furnished by a numbers-matching Studebaker 289ci V8 that was factory rated at 240hp and is said to have never been rebuilt. It is equipped with a Carter 4-barrel carburetor, electronic distributor/ignition and dual exhaust. All rubber hoses and rubber fuel lines have been replaced and cooling is managed by the stock radiator and upgraded surge tank system. The engine is backed by a rebuilt 3-speed automatic gearbox and torque is delivered to a rebuilt stock differential w/3.54:1 gearing. The chassis is equipped with power steering and power disc/drum brakes with all new components. The Studebaker Avanti is a highly collectible and admired example of 1960's American design and engineering. This handsome '64 Avanti Gold coupe is a rare find and will sell quickly. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
