Shay Motors Corporation was an automobile company founded by Harry J. Shay in the 1970's. Harry Shay arranged with Ford Motor Company to build a limited run, modern-day reproduction of the Ford Model A Rumble Seat Roadster and Ford Thunderbird, that was to be sold through the network of Ford Automobile Dealers all across United States and built in Battle Creek, Michigan. While having the outward appearance of the classic automobile the reproduction was built with a modern frame and powertrain. The Model A used the same 2.3L 4 cylinder engine as a Ford Pinto and most of them are mated to automatic transmission, that makes it much easier to drive and be enjoyed at parades or on a nice weekend ! The Shay Model A for sale here was built in 1981, titled as Ford with a clean California Title, interior upholstery including rumble seat and convertible top are in like new condition suggesting the car had a cosmetic interior job recently, also never used side curtains for L and R side, just in case your nice Sunday will turn into a rainy day, shown in the last listing photo. Interior features 2 tones seats and door panels matching the exterior 2 tones paint job, Ivory/French Vanilla and black fenders, 6 white wall tires in very good condition, headlights and rear lights in good working order, carburetor recently rebuilt, car runs and drives well. Not much of a difference between the original '29 Model A, pretty much the same look, the only difference is that the car can be driven with higher speed and less effort. Custom steel heavy duty frame and fiberglass body with a steel 2 piece hood, polished aluminum steps installed on the running boards on both sides, also little steps for climbing into the rumble seat compartment exactly as the original Model A has. Odometer shows 33,190 miles since built back in 1981, that was 44 years ago, not new or perfect but super nice, pictures in the listing will show you how nice this Shay is!
