1955 Porsche 550A Spyder (replica)

The 1955 Porsche 550A replica is a collector car of sorts ............. it started life as one of the original Thunder Ranch replicas. The first couple photos show how the 550 started out before being stripped and repainted and reworked with all new components.
You will notice from the photos that the headrest fairing is a part of the original fiberglass body, not an add-on like most replicas. The seats are set in place and trimmed in Oxblood red leather. The exterior is of course Silver and flawless, as the originalThunder Ranch was completely stripped from the chassis and restored. The chassis consist of the original 3" steel tubular frame, not a VW chassis and tunnel.
The build was performed by SoCal Speedsters in Southern California ............ the engine was built by the Performance Workshop in Riverside, California and connected to a Freeway flyer four speed manual transaxle, along with dual 40 IDA Webers and a remote oil cooler with fan. Braking is handled by disc brakes on all fours, hidden by a stainless plate keeping the original look of the 15" five wide wheels.
This coupe is as new, driven only 25 miles since taking delivery in Arizona in July 2023. This left-hand drive vehicle was manufactured in Southern California and has a clean Montana title. The 550 is titled as a 2023 Spyder 550 and registered until July 2026 in the name of the owners LLC.
I tried to have this 550 built as close as possible to an original within reason of course. The shifting mechanism and emergency brake and VDO gauges are as the original. The VDO gauges need to be reset as they arrived not fully working, I was told this is a simple exercise, but at my age this simple task is over my head. The badging and interior components are new but are said to look as original as possible considering the history of this Porsche model.
The car is located in Scottsdale, Arizona, it is the "Buyers" responsibility for pick-up or transportation. I am retired so can assist you or your shipper as required. The car is being sold "as is - where is" with no warranty implied or provided.
This 550 is listed locally and can end at any time, I bought a new Porsche and need the room, otherwise I would not be selling!
