1962 Porsche 356b super 1600 Cabriolet - Very Original

Vehicle Description

This original 1962, matching numbers356b super 1600 Porsche Cabriolet, was purchased new May 3, 1962, with an Oslo blue exterior and red interior. Documents include original sales paperwork, and service manual from Concourse Motors Inc. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Also, included are 50 service receipts over the past 50 years.

The original chassis number is 156404 with current engine number P701623. It retains the original four speed manual transmission and four vented steel wheels with hub caps and a spare wheel and tire. Historical documents indicate it was in Wisconsin from 1962 through 1975, then repainted in California where it remained until 1992, and has been in Portland, Oregon since purchased by the current owner. This amazing car has been in dry storage for the past 25 years. It is not currently running, although it was running well when it was stored.

As you can see from the photos the doors have rust bubbles on both sides with a few bubbles on the body as well. The boot, battery box and floorboards have rust. The car will require mechanical work after 25 years of storage. This car has always had meticulous mechanical work with no expense spared to keep it original.

The engine was rebuilt at 99,624 and currently has 130,888 miles on the speedometer. All interior, VDO gauges are original with working analog clock, Blaupunkt AM-FM radio and stock steering wheel. The convertible top is in good condition and includes the full tonneau cover. This is an investment grade example of an original 356b Porsche, exuding elegance and performance.
