Vehicle Details

1988 Fiero Formula 5 speed stock 2.8 V6

I have owned this car for wow I think 4-5 years already. It has been the single most reliable vehicle I've owned in awhile. In my time with it, it has broken down once, for a timing chain ar 170k, 30 dollars for another in stock at the nearest parts store, 1 hour and it was back on the road.

This car is far from perfect it is not a show car it is a car that works. Its driven, used, and loved.

Mechanically:

Engine runs well, always has, always starts, you can abandon it for 3 months, come back and it fires first try. It will typically give typical fiero belt squeal for a moment on startup and during wet weather. It needs valve cover gaskets replaced it leaks and slowly but surely worsening, new felpro blue rubber gaskets included. otherwise honestly not a lot to say about the engine because i dont have to touch it much.

Transmission synchros in 3rd are shot, I always double clutch 3rd to avoid any grind, otherwise it works normally. it was that way when I got the car about 40 thousand miles ago it is NOT going to fail anytime soon if you continue to treat it as I have. The 5 speed getrag has a convenient dipstick to monitor oil level, It was changed maybe 20k miles ago or so. The clutch is good and it has been maintained with a new master and slave cylinder

Cooling system updated with a champion 3 core V8 swap radiator, it does NOT have a V8 it has original 2.8 V6. I prefer some security in cooling so when the original radiator developed a small pinhole I just bought the best radiator available for it. The cooling fan is wired to always be on for peace of mind. Temp almost never goes above 180

Brakes upgraded to C4 Corvette rotors, with EBC yellow pads, the original fiero calipers need some grease they managed to give the rotors some notable warpage when braking. Stops really well though brakes feel great

HEAT/AC, heater works good and blows hard. AC system I spent over 500$ to get a new line made that runs under the car, and another 400$ to get ahold of a compressor for it, along with a new accumulator from TFS, R134a conversion O rings throughout. The system holds charge and blows cold, however recently the belt broke, 16$ for a new belt but I have not picked one up yet. I can put a gauge on it to prove its holding charge

Suspension, front has been updated, Rodney dickman Zero lash swaybar links, brass steering part, inner and outer tie rods, along with rodneys 1 inch lowering ball joints. Shocks are the good stuff KYB, the car still needs rear stuff it is original in the rear, it handles and rides good. When out on track tires this unit absolutely glued to the road

Wheels/Tires, Original fiero wheels only, 2x brand new tires only maybe 100 miles on them, and 2x good tires, full tread and no dry rot but i think they are a couple years old. To clear the C4 large rotors wheel spacers are used, the cars had spacers on it the entire time with many various wheels and never had any issues. I use loctite on the spacers

EXTERIOR:

Car was repainted a few years ago by previous owner as practice towards becoming a professional painter. Theres spots where dust got in, spots where typical fiero spiderweb cracking is happening etc

Car is missing a couple pieces of the black trim on the sides, the tail lights are in good shape, missing the rear most "pontiac" emblem, headlights updated to LED

Pop ups WORK GREAT always have

Wing is splitting open along factory seam, it was when I got it and its always been held with some Gaffer tape

New front windshield and seal

"Frunk" is missing the storage tray that would hold the spare donut and jack

INTERIOR:

Interior is mostly original it does have fiero specific seat covers in matching grey color, ive honestly never taken them off im not certain the condition underneath, but they feel fine. it is setup with an NRG quick release but I also have the original steering wheel. All gauges and lights work, windows are manual and both work. Radio is a single din with bluetooth with red lighting to match

In summary its a great car, it gets positive attention everywhere it goes. Its fun, simple, and dependable. Its well broken in not restored with only a few minor changes that could easily be reversed if thats your desire.
