Vehicle Description

In 1949 GM brought out new A-body and B-body cars, largely imitating the bigger C-body cars brought out in 1948. The 1949 Pontiac Chieftain, Star Chief, Super Chief and Bonneville were given a GM A-body along with current Chevrolet models. Common wear for the Pontiac Eight range was the Silver Streak 8 engine, a straight eight unit of 4395cc (enlarged from 4079cc on the 1949 models)Pontiac introduced a restyled line up courtesy of designer Herman Kaiser with a lot of Harley Earl influence thrown in. The company released two models, the Streamliner and the Chieftain, and both shared the same 120" wheelbase. The standard engine was the 239 CID six cylinder motor, but the cream of the crop was the buttery smooth straight 8 engine, dubbed the "Silver Streak." Both 3 speed automatic and manual transmissions could be had and the cars were available in the coupe, sedan and four door. EMAIL THEODMOT@GMAIL.COM FOR MORE INFO IF NEEDED.
