This 1976 Pontiac Trans Am has undergone a full frame-off restoration with meticulous attention to detail. Every part, nut and bolt has been either replaced or restored. This Trans Am features its original, numbers-matching 455 cubic inch V8 and numbers-matching 4-speed manual transmission. 1976 was the last year the 455 was offered so this is one of the of the last 455 powered Pontiac’s produced. This Trans Am is a true collector’s car ready to drive or show.

Mechanical:

  • Original #'s matching455ci Pontiac V8 completely rebuilt to factory specs
  • Original #'s matchingBorg Warner Super T10 4-speed manual transmission
  • Dual exhaust system with transverse mounted muffler and chrome spitters to avoid any ground clearance concerns
  • Functional vacuum operated shaker door
  • Original air intake including flex hose, and duct work is in place as it would’ve been originally.
  • New power brake system including Master Cylinder, Vacuum Booster, Proportioning Valve, Calipers, Rotors Drums, Wheel Cylinders, rubber hoses and all hard lines. Stops just like it did in 1976
  • New fuel system including fuel pump, hard lines, tank, and sending unit are new
  • Non-original Quadrajet carburetor, but an original Pontiac 4 speed carburetor was sourced and rebuilt
  • Original restored Pontiac Rally Wheels wrapped in new Mastercraft RWL 225/70/15 tires. Original OE brushed stainless trim rings were used to maintain originality
  • New rubber body mounts
  • Suspension components have all been replaced or restored including Shocks, Springs both front and rear, Tie Rods, Ball Joints, Idler Arm, Center Link, Sway bar bushings front and rear, etc.
  • New 3 core aluminum radiator painted black to maintain factory appearance with modern cooling
  • Radiator as well as heater core hoses are reproduction replicas of the originals which include GM markings. Tower clamps used to maintain original appearance
  • Power steering hoses restored as well as gearbox
  • Underhood has been restored to factory appearance all the way down to the hood insulator
  • All turn signals, brake lights, headlights, brights, and hazards function as they should
  • Wipers are fully functional including the squirters for washer fluid
  • Heat blows warm on all settings

Body & Paint:

  • Full frame-off restoration
  • Originally ordered without the hood bird (Rare) and omitted during restoration to maintain factory originality. Can be added at buyer’s cost if desired prior to pickup.
  • Body stripped to bare metal; body work completed and blocked 3 times to ensure straight black paint. 3 coats of House of Kolor clear used and color-sanded/polished to the shine you see.
  • Underside painted in correct red oxide primer and cleared for durability. Black overspray was sprayed under the car around rockers to replicate the factory underside appearance.
  • Trunk floor painted in the correct Black/Aqua finish with correct trunk mat. Jacking instructions decal is in place under the decklid.
  • All decals were replaced with Phoenix Graphix GM licensed items
  • New weather stripping including, door seals, roof rails, trunk seal, shaker seal, window felts, and all under hood weatherstripping including correct cowl seal
  • All window reveal trim has been restored with the exception of the windshield which is new. All pieces fit tight as they should.
  • Headlight bezel chrome is in excellent shape as is the chrome plated parts of the front grills.

Interior:

  • Original horsecollar seats were reupholstered in ’76 only correct PUI Black vinyl with perforated inserts. Front seat foam replaced as well.
  • Original excellent condition door panels are in place along with pull straps
  • Dash pad is in excellent shape with the exception of 2 hairline cracks shown in photos
  • Original dash bezel in excellent condition
  • Gauges are restored and lens replaced so clear readings are visible
  • All glass on the car is Brand New. Includes windshield, rear window, and both side windows. No scratches like so many of these cars had even months after they were new.
  • All window tracks were degreased and reoiled for easy up and down operation.
  • Headliner replaced with correct perforated black vinyl
  • New black carpet with mass backing. Floor pans have foil insulation to keep the interior quiet and cool
  • New sill scuff plates
  • Console in great shape along with Factory 4-speed Hurst shifter
  • Radio delete plate was added to ensure the new owner can install their preferred style of radio
  • Horn works as it should
  • Steering wheel is a leather wrapped version for comfortable grip on long drives
  • Wiring harnesses were completely removed from the car and cleaned, rewrapped and tested for full functionality.
