Vehicle Description

I have had a GTO at every point in my life since I was 16 years old. I’m now 66 so I guess it’s been a 50 year love affair. This is my last one and I’m feeling it’s time to put her up for sale. I bought this car 11 years ago as a roller from CA. It has its original floors and trunk, but needed new quarters which were replaced. The car came without its original drivetrain so I upgraded there. This was a nut and bolt restoration done in my garage (except paint). If you’ve ever restored a car you know it’s impossible to list everything, but following are the most pertinent.

The engine is a ’73 455 donated by a Grand Prix bored .030 with TRW pistons. The heads are Edelbrock 87cc round ports with Crane 1.65 rollers connected to Ram Air Restorations round port exhaust manifolds. It is topped by a factory intake and Jet Performance 800cfm quadrajet with electric choke. The carb is fed cool air via the steel ram air pan and open hood scoop. The cam is a factory hydraulic 068 which drives the Summit HEI electronic ignition. Cooling is managed by a full shroud, Champion radiator and Flowkooler water pump (they DO work).

I added power steering and kept the manual brakes but did install a Skarebird disc conversion on the front. I also added a Vintage Air setup.

The driveline is a rebuilt wide ratio Muncie 4 speed in a new Autogear case. The rear end is a BOP 8.5” with a Yukon Gear posi and 3:23 gears. I also added boxed rear control arms and a sway bar for stability.

The interior was redone with Legendary upholstery in factory turquoise. I installed a factory rallye gauge package with LED lighting as well as the rallye steering wheel. The Vintage air was integrated into the dash to look original. The car has an upgraded AM/FM radio with power rear antenna but the original radio (dead) comes with the car. No cutting has been done there. Front and rear glass is new, as are the 4 position Julianos seat belts.

Tires are BF Goodrich on 17” Aluminum Rallye II’s. The exhaust is a dual Pypes system with a crossover.

The car is built to cruise. I had an exhaust bung put on and attached an AFR gauge under the dash for awhile to get the carb dialed in. I believe I have the compression ratio at about 9.5:1. It runs good on 89. With the 3:23 rear end it doesn’t tach out on you and you can cruise country roads comfortably. If any questions reach out and I’ll be happy to answer if I can.
