Vehicle Description

1969 PLYMOTH VALIANT 100% rust free turn key 340 auto 8 ¾ 2 door post.

I built this car with my Dad (story later) in 2007 and it started as a rust free 6 cylinder valiant with only 58,000 miles. Everything has been replaced from top to bottom except its rust free body.

Body is rust free and painted in a B3 light metallic, single stage in 2008 and the cost was 3100 by a paint shop for paint only. It is bubble free and looks great from any angle. It has only been wet with its spring wash and has always been garaged. If I could get the same paint on any of my cars now for 10 grand I would be happy. Car was taken down to bare metal and painted top to bottom. The underneath and floor pans are rust encapsulated and are in excellent original condition. No mini tubs or fuel cell has 3/8 fuel line. All stock. No carpet but floors are rust encapsulated front to back as you can see in pics. There is boxed custom sub frame connectors. All wheel lips and trunk are original with no rust from the beginning. There was no rust to start and no rust now.

The engine is a 1971 steel crank 340. Has original X heads are rebuilt 2.02 intake with no cut or polish. Completely rebuilt by a great engine builder (same guy that built my 1963 superstock 440 that has 400 runs and out performs everyone that was built by R__ B____ built motors). Oil pressure is 80psi. Has a hughes engine custom grind cam that was made to run with modern aluminum heads. Keith black pistons at 9.8 compression that can run on pump gas. Eagle connecting rods. Edlebrock air gap intake with an edlebrock 600cmf carb. Ignition is a Mopar branded MSD 6AL. This motor and trans have been driven less than 100 miles and has had eight quarter mile passes with a best of 12.9 at 103mph through the 2 ½ full exhaust. This car with a head swap and a 750cfm carb will run in the 11’s. I have lots of receipts and the cam card specs.

The transmission is a 904 with a manual valve body shifted by a single click B&M rachet shifter. Buff 10 inch converter and is perfect for the street or strip.

I have Mopar rally wheels with bfg tires if you prefer over the black welds.

The rear is an 8 ¾ 3.91 (489 case) with Moser gears and axles. Front and rear hubs have long studs. Front disc conversion as well as superstock springs and torsion bars. .89 If I remember so you can go big block if desired. All brake lines, hard and rubber, were replaced new. All suspension and steering parts are new as well.

Now for the story…My father was a great guy but had zero mechanic ability and used to go the race track with me and one day he said he wanted to race a car. I told him that I would make that possible but you need to build your own car. At the time I had this car, a 73 challenger, and a 68 coronet. He chose the 69 valiant. We built this car together, difficult because his lack of ability, (easy stuff) but we conquered. At this time I had already owned at least 50 mopars and restored more than 10. This was special as a son father project. He finally raced the car at atco nj and did pretty well in 2010 and the reverse dream was finalized. He since doesn’t even remember the car or the build and I have changed the oil with Penngrade every year and driven the car a few miles and made sure fuel was fresh every year and it is time to sell. I took him to Cecil County md in 2020 with the car and ran the same 12.9 as he did.

This car has zero problems and is a great car if you want a hot rod or run it as a bracket car. I see chopped up Valiants going for way more and similar cars going for crazy money. I have built ground up altered wheelbase cars, full body conversions vehicles, completely restored originals and have owned over 300 cars in my 36 years in this field. This is a solid, great car that I am selling for a fair price.
