1950 Plymouth Special Suburban

Vehicle Description
This 1950 Plymouth Special Suburban wagon was in a California collection for many years and was featured in an article in the August 1993 issue of Car Collector magazine. It was described as “faultless quality in a plain gray wrapper.” The plain gray wrapper is still there. The body, frame and bright work are all original and in pristine condition. I bought the car a few years ago and decided to bring it into the 21st century. I had the car shipped to St. Louis to a specialty shop and had it modified to provide all the comforts that we expect today: new engine (replaced the inline 6 with a rebuilt 318 V8), EFI, Automatic Transmission, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Mustang II Front End, Power Brakes (Disc on front), Power Windows. It has an aluminum radiator with electric cooling fan, alternator, 12-volt system throughout the car, electric windshield wipers, rebuilt dashboard instrument cluster, coil over springs front suspension, rebuilt rear leaf springs, reworked differential, rebuilt drive shaft. It has new steering wheel made especially for this car; tilt steering column, back up lights, custom dual exhaust, original radio modified for AM/FM (has the look of the original), new American Classic wide whitewall radial tires plus spare, new headliner and new door panel inserts to match the headliner, new matching floor mats, installed seatbelts. I replaced the driver-side door glass (was delaminating).
The body style is a two-door station wagon and is rare and unusual. The original literature describes it as: “You will be thrilled when you see the brand new Special Suburban – the all-purpose car with the Country Club Air. Seat cushions and backs are upholstered in Tan Bedford Cord. And the swank Special Suburban offers you the three-cars-in-one utility of the regular model.”
The car has less than 37,000 original miles and less than 500 miles on all the new running gear.
There are no rust issues.
