1938 Packard Six

Vehicle Description
This beautiful and classically elegant 1938 Packard Model 1600, four-door touring sedan is a well-maintained original and rust-free car that has lived much of its life in California. It starts, runs, and drives well, with its 245 cubic inch inline 6-cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission smoothly powering the car down the road. The original carburetor with a manual choke has been replaced with a more modern Carter WA-1 having an automatic choke. The original 6-volt, positive-ground electrical system and generator is still in place and functions well. Much of the original wiring is still in place and in good condition, although some wiring has been replaced with more modern types – particularly in the interior areas behind the instrument panel and in some of the exposed areas underneath the car. The radiator is clean and in good condition and the water pump has been replaced. All of the drive-train lubricant fluids are fresh and the brakes are good.
The original interior seat upholstery, door panels, and headliner are in good condition, however there is a hole worn through the driver-side rear floor carpeting. All of the manual windows operate as designed and feature the original window glass. Some typical age-associated delamination is visible in the front quarter and rear quarter vent windows glass. The exterior body has been repainted a number of years ago and does show some age cracking in a few areas when closely inspected (shown in posted photos). All of the original instrument panel gauges still function except for the engine temperature gauge and odometer. The mileage shown on the odometer is therefore not accurate and is not exactly known. The engine runs strongly with no smoking or abnormal oil consumption.A newer aftermarket temperature gauge has been installed on the bottom edge of the dashboard. The horn, headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and heater fan motor all work, although the clock does not.
The undercarriage of the car is in good condition with only some normal light surface rust being present. (see photos)
This car’s original condition and true survivor status adds to its value and the pleasure and enjoyment of owning and driving it.
