Vehicle Description

1979 Chevrolet Camaro

This is an older resto mod from the 80’s. It is period correct with the old painted pinstripes and the 1980’s wheels and white letter tires. This is a step back to the 80’s!

The car is solid. It has had only a small amount of filler on the bottom of the fenders. I have the p[pictures of the filler that I can find.

The undercarriage of this car is VERY nice. It is solid. I was able to find one area that will need a patch. It is on the passenger side rear floorboard on the lowest part of the metal. It is about 1 inch wide and about 4 inches long. It is a very easy repair. Other than that area, the undercarriage is solid. No repairs or patches that I can find. I have a lot of pics of the undercarriage that I can send to you.

This car is not used it like he wanted to use it and he has no place to store the car now, so he needs to sell the car. The car starts and runs well. The timing was just checked, and the carb was cleaned and set. It idles and runs well with no misses and does not overheat.

The car is set up as a nice driver. The engine has the flowing work done:

The block is a 1995 Chevrolet 350

Pioneet Rod Bolts, and main bearing caps

It was bored .30 over.

Pioneer pistons

The bottom end was balanced.

Vortex Heads

Stainless Steel Valves, with Z28 springs

Roller Cam and Lifters

Double Rolled Timing Chain

Melling Oil Pump

Oval track Oil Pan

Gear reduced Starter

Stainless Headers

Aluminum Vortex Air Cooled Intake

675 Holley Carb

Holley Electric Fuel Pump and Fuel Pressure Regulator

Billett Egnishum Distributor

Billett Aluminum Vale Covers

Griffin Alumn Radiator

Alumn Water Pump and Pulleys

Rebuilt 350 Turbo Transmission

410 Richmond Gears with Posi track 10 bolt rear

I lifted the car and looked at the undercarriage. I took multiple pictures of the undercarriage. It is in exceptional condition. The rear floorboards have a spot of rust that has started. I did take a picture of this. This is an easy repair. The floor does not need replaced.

If you are looking for a solid Camaro to drive and work on this is the perfect one. If you are looking for a car that you can drive to local shows and enjoy, this is a perfect car for you. It is fast and not rusted up.
The paint is poor. The silver paint with the black stripes fit the car well. But the silver is starting to fade. Not sure if it can be restored. May need a paint job. But losing the pinstripes would be a shame. If you want to keep it period correct you can try to restore the paint. I doubt that can be done though. A fresh paint job will make the car stand out.

The car is running and driving. There are no issues with the car that I can point out as needing to be done. The heater core has been blocked off as you can see in the pictures.

I loaded a video on youtube and if you clickhereit will take you to the video.

The car is being sold only due to not being able to store it at this time. He is losing his storage and needs to find a loving home. He thought he was really going to drive this but he just has not used it like he thought he would.

The VIN 1Q87G9N520253 decodes as being a 1979 Camaro. It was originally equipped with the 305 CID engine and was built in the Norwood plant. The VIN will not show if it is a Z28 or an RS but most likely with the 10bolt rear and the 305 it was originally a standard, Base Camaro.

The odometer shows 61,865. However, I cannot verify if that is true mileage or not. I was able to track back to 2002 and I have found there were a total of 4 owners up to this time. The mileage is not reported back that long ago, to verify the miles. CarFax does not show the VIN due to not being a 17 digit VIN. Other sources do not give information either.
