With fresh paint and minor repairs you could be proud to drive this car to your favorite car shows, or just ride around town turning heads. But, if you want to do a serious restoration it would be hard to find one better. The lack of rust on this car is remarkable. The stick shift, low stance and that shaker hood make it fun to drive. If you are old enough to remember those years, this thing will take you back in time.
The only reason this car is for sale is the owner, a family friend, passed away unexpectedly. He was a mechanic and car collector. I know he owned this one for over 20 years. I purchased all of his collection about 2 years ago. I have done some minor paint touch up and a good deal of cleaning. You can see the underside is untouched, not covered with undercoating etc.
1981 was the last year of the second gen F body. This one is a Trans am 305 LG4 In 81 Trans am total production was 33523 and of that number 2866 were LG4's. All the LG4's were 4 speed manual trans. with a GM 5.0 engine and 3.08 rear gears.
You will notice the decal on the hood reads 6.6 which is not accurate. The stamp on the engine is GM 5.0, LG so the engine is as it should be. As far as I can tell everything significant is stock. (I am not an expert)
The pictures show the condition of the paint, decals etc., all the surface stuff. There are lots of chipped paint spots.It needs a tune up, starts and runs OK but it could run better.The hood latch needs work, it's there and works (with two hands) but it needs to be reattached to the mount.The driver seat adjustment does not work.Windshield has two chips.It has a mild exhaust leak. I caught one of the mufflers on a trailer ramp, probably loose at the doughnut gasket.Where I touched up the paint on the DS rear fender, the paint does not match very well. Doesn't show in the pic.Needs a better spring on the accelerator, this one is too weak.I don't know if the AC works, looks like it's all there.Fuel filler cover does not have the eagle.Seals around the doors should be replaced, they are old but still function.
