Vehicle Description

Originally a six cylinder automatic car went through some changes to adapt all the followingfrom the 2004 Pontiac GTO: LS1 motor,6-spd trans, dash, floor, front seats, HVAC, Nu-relic electric windows, remote locks, wiper motor and linkage, GM passkey alarm, dash air bags intact, console all electrical transferred into the car.Lemans blue is the original color(U) on black(U), and a dark blue top.The vinyl top is still plenty good as the inside stays dry. The LS1 is stock aside from long tube headersand a cold air intake. The car is also equipped with CPP C5 Corvette style 2 piston front calipers, 13" rotors,1” taller spindles up front, stock GTO brake master, Flaming River Rack and Pinion Steering, 8.2”10 bolt 2.73 Posi Traction rear axle with rear drum brakes, stock style new single leafsprings, custom subframe connectors, 17” Boyd five spoke rims with 215/55/17 tires (4 years oldwith just a few thousand miles).Stock size TANKS,inc injection gas tank just installed this winter with the Walbro 255 pump, correct senderand vapor canister all plumbed as the 04 GTO had. Same for coolant lines and recovery tank GTO had. The body of the car, panels, and subframe are Camaro correct except for the customcowl panel that was fabricated to work with the original windshield frame and cowl. Fullquarters, drop top beltway, trunk metal and fenders replaced. Floor adapted from GTO.The taller 1968 coupe windshield was used in conjunction with the GTO cowling. The top is manual operated. Body lines are near perfect and minimal fillers used. The positioning of the GTO firewall with respect to the dash the engine andtransmission were mounted about 7” further back than stock on the factory Camaro subframemodifying the GTO cradle utilizing the GTO engine mounts to allow for more even chassis weight distribution.Home made subframe connectors slide into subframe and crossbolted and floor bolted and anchored into leaf mounts.Custom fog lights as well as 1967 Camaro rear tail lights were utilized and 69 reverse lights. The donor wrecked GTO I could start the motor and seemed fine and since the tail housing was shoved intothe floor, repaired that and later to find out second gear synchro is worn so slow about shifting into second orjust go to third. GM used a skip shift function that forced you from first to fourth under low rpm's so I shunted thatat the harness so that never happens. This car does not have a radio or sound system installed, all wiring is there for an 8 speaker setupfrom the GTO, aside from the installed dash tweeters. No ABS and disabled IP alarm.New Optima battery 2/25.The rear interior quarter panels have no interior panels as customs pieces would have to be madeto work with the overhead “roll bar” cut from the GTO roof support or removing the bar is possibleas is bolted in and with dzus's. Note, the “roll bar” is not a tubular steel bar and isn’t considered astructural safety bar, it houses the GTO shoulder seat belts and the dome light a convertible wouldotherwise not have. Starts, runs and drives reliably anywhere with no drive or steering issues. There are small paint imperfections, buffer gouges etc.Includes the top boot, the original Camaro rear seats, GTO rear seats(if want),quarter panels, misc GTO actuators and a complete original, not Chinese, GM Vetronix Tek2scanner/programmer kit with the car. I'll say there are virtually no leaks. The A/C compressor was tearing up last summer, AC not working. Not a bit of rust anywhere. At 75 mph it tachs about 1700rpm's. First gear is a 2:97 in the GTO's so times 2:73 gives a start ratio of just over 8.I did all the build and paint myself aside from tires and alignment. You could say I was chancing all this and as things went I was impressed the way the motor, steering shaft, modified GTO engine support, oil panworked out as well as it did. Ive owned the car since 1990 and because of recent circumstances have to sellto move.Turns heads for sure.
