Amazingly rare, collector owned, 1983 Subaru GL 4wd Turbo wagon in excellent survivor condition... An original California car from new and now in Virginia. Still has the original California factory smog sticker on the windshield. All photos in this listing taken May 2025.In 1983 TV commercials featured the Subaru GL wagon as the official car of the US Olympic Ski Team and this is a cool tribute to that car. The commercial showed the US Ski Team in the Subaru rescuing the Swedish Ski Team on a snow covered mountain road. Rust free examples of these wagons from this era are nearly impossible to find... 4wd Turbo wagons are even more rare.Note the very distinctive custom made (in Colorado) roof rack made out of skis. I get more people stopping me in parking lots to take photos of this car than any other collector car I've ever owned. 104,630 original miles! Starts, runs, drives and stops flawlessly. Fresh oil and filter change this month. This would be a wonderful and reliable daily driver if desired. I average 25-29 mpg around town. No leaks and starts first time/every time.4wd is easily engaged by pushing a switch on the shifter handle, otherwise you are cruising in FWD/2wd. The turbo makes an unbelievable difference in speed and acceleration and this Subie runs effortlessly in highway traffic. It's the 1.8 turbo charged original engine making 95 HP. That doesn't sound like much but it's quite zippy at only 2300 lbs.Stunning all original interior. One small one inch tear in the middle rear seat back. All gauges work except for the clock. The original radio was left in the dash but bypassed for a modern Bluetooth radio located below the glove box and runs off the rear stock speakers. The drivers side rear door latch can be sticky but can be opened from inside. All glass is excellent. It even has the original floor mats!A/C is not blowing cold and is still R12 waiting to be charged or converted to R134.13 inch original wheels freshly powder coated in 2024 with chrome trim rings- riding on 175/70/13 Kumho tires in excellent condition.Comes with original owners manual, shop repair manual and file folders of service and repair records. Included is the original invoice from Subaru of Pasadena (Ca.) along with service history from California and Colorado.The previous owner acquired this car from Worldwide Vintage Auto's in Denver in 2021 with 99k miles.
