1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible Limited Edition

Vehicle Description
Rare and beautiful garage kept 1994 Olds Cutlass Convertible, Limited Edition. This special edition includes gold pin striping with cityscape images of the Chicago skyline and gold trim accents. The top is original, and the car is gorgeous with the top down, given the car's wide roll bar that arches over the middle, which adds a super clean touch. The single exhaust splits near the back where it encounters mufflers before exiting as double twin tailpipes under the sculpted cladding of the rear panel.
The Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme was the only W-Body from GM that offered a convertible and the targa bar was necessary both for chassis rigidity and because the W-body coupes had their door handles nestled into the B-pillars for smoother profile. It is an outlier, and being both an outlier and a convertible, this example automatically becomes more interesting as a collector opportunity. This has never been a daily driver for me.
The squinting double headlights that are paired with an equal sized marker light gives a sinister, triple eyed stare, which adds to her attractiveness. In the mid 90's, I remember these being ridiculously hot cars and those who had one typically smiled more than the average driver. We had an aftermarket auto-start system installed after I purchased the car, and it still works fine.
Exterior:
- Paint and Body:
No chips, scratches, or fading, reflecting in this well-cared-for vehicle. It was apparent, however, that parts of the car had been repainted before I purchased it, which may have included body filler, but it still looks fantastic today with an amazing shiny gloss. There are no records that came with the car, about it being repainted but it was most likely driven during the Chicago winters during her first few years, which would explain the protential body work. All panels are straight and free from dents or rust, showcasing the car's original beauty. Regular detailing and waxing have helped maintain the appearance of the vehicle.
- Top:
.The original white canvas top shows a bit of discoloration and there are two small sections where the stitching is starting to tear, around the rear window, which you can see in my photos. The power convertible top operates smoothly and is free from tears or damage, with a clean, wrinkle-free appearance. The inside padded headliner is in excellent condition.
- Wheels & Tires:
The current tires were purchased In September of 2018 when the odometer clicked in at 74,594 miles and are still in excellent condition with minimal wear. The factory alloy wheels are also in good shape.
- Trim:
Gold chrome trim pieces are free from rust or corrosion, adding to the car's overall polished look. There are tiny sections of the pinstriping where the paint has been rubbed off over time.
Interior:
- Seats:
The luxurious leather bucket seats are wide, bolstered, and heavily padded, with no stains, tears, or excessive wear. The rear seats are also unique buckets and provide an amazingly comfortable second row as occupants are provided witharmrests, ashtrays, and speakers on the sidewalls.
- Dashboard:
The dashboard is free from cracks or fading, with all gauges and controls functioning correctly.
- Console:
The console, including the gear shift and storage compartments, are clean and in good working order.
- Carpeting:
The carpeting is clean and free from stains or damage, with the floor mats in good condition.
- Windows:
The power windows operate smoothly, and the window seals are in good condition.
- Audio System:
Includes an original AC Delco premium sound system with AM/FM/CD Player with steering wheel controls, but the CD player is not currently working. Nevertheless, the power antenna works fine.
Mechanical:
- Engine:
The 3.4 Liter DOHC V6 engine runs smoothly and has been maintained regularly. However, the car does have a small oil leak underneath. This has not been at the top of my list to address, because of the infrequency of me driving the car over the last 10 years. The vehicle is started and moved regularly during the winter season, to circulate the oil (and other fluids) and to keep all the systems active; without actually taking her outside into the bad weather.
- Transmission:
The electronically controlled four speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the front-wheel drive systems perform well.
- Brakes:
The braking system is in good working order, with no squealing or vibrations.
- Suspension:
The suspension provides a comfortable and controlled ride, with no excessive noise or play.
- Underbody:
The underbody does have evidence of surface rust, most likely from being driven by the original owner during Chicago winters. As mentioned in another section of my description, the vehicle has been garaged and not driven in harsh weather since I purchased it in March 2000.
Other Features:
- Power Top:
The power convertible top mechanisms function well, allowing for trouble-free operation and a smooth folding and unfolding process.
- Power Locks & Windows:
The power locks and windows operate smoothly and reliably.
- Air Conditioning:
The air conditioning system is in good working order, with no known issues.
