In 1919, Oldsmobile decided to jump into a new consumer market by manufacturing a line of trucks aimed at delivery-focused businesses such as dry goods, bakeries and even as a firetruck. The Oldsmobile Economy debuted in 1919 and was produced through 1923. Rated as a 1-ton, the Oldsmobile Economy Truck was available in numerous configurations including cab-chassis, a stripped chassis, and curtain-side bodies. Starting at $1,350, The Oldsmobile Economy Truck proved popular and is remembered for its attractive appearance along with its usability. a 227 cubic inch overhead valve 4-cylinder rated at a strong 40 horsepower, Oldsmobile boasted about its top speed of 22 miles per hour, which was impressive for the time, along with its “complete electrical system” and pneumatic tires.
