The B13 series 1991-1994 Nissan Sentra SE-R, equipped with the free-revving SR20DE DOHC 2.0 liter 4 cylinder was a small but significant part of the late 80s to early 90s pinnacle of Japanese sports car production. Everything from Honda's Prelude and CRX, to Mitsubishi's 3000 GT and Eclipse, to Nissan's 300ZX and the Sentra SE-R, plus many others, defined an era where high performance, sleek silhouettes, and excellent build quality all converged. In fact, this era has spawned its own collector car segment, with many of these models reaching high-five and six-figure numbers for the most pristine, low-mileage examples. The first gen SE-R debuted in 1991, the same year as this 33,000 original mile Aztec Red example seen here. With its lightweight chassis, the high-winding dual overhead cam 4 cylinder pumped out 140 hp and 132 lb/ft of torque, with an incredible 7500 RPM redline, meaning this little rocket was surprisingly quick and boy could it pull! It also featured technology like 4-wheel disc brakes, ABS, front and rear sway bars, and even a limited slip differential driving both front wheels, all items missing from its competition, and usually reserved for much more expensive models of the time. The car was so good, Car & Driver magazine named it to its "10 Best" list 3 different times! They called it "an absolute riot" to drive, "incredibly tossable," and dubbed it "the modern version of BMW's legendary 2002."Today, these SE-Rs are virtually extinct. With only 6-7% of all Sentra production getting the SE-R treatment, most of the relatively few produced have succumbed to the rigors of time, the elements, and exhaustive commuter use, with many that have survived also seeing heavy use in SCCA and club racing. As any modern fan of these cars knows, finding a low mileage, all-original example like this is a lesson in frustration. To wit, we just checked all of the following sites--* AutoTrader.com* Cars.com* Ebay.com* Edmunds.com* Bring-A-Trailer.com* CarsAndBids.com* CarGurus.com* CarsForSale.comand found exactly ZERO 1991-1994 Sentra SE-Rs for sale! We did find a couple of examples from BringATrailer that sold in the past year, with a museum-quality example with just 445 original miles selling for an incredible $35,000+ after fees! That one can't really ever be enjoyed the way it was designed, for fear of ruining its value by putting significant miles on it.However, ours, with just 33,000 original miles, is right in that sweet spot, where it can still be driven on a limited basis without hurting its future collectible status. We've priced our near showroom-quality example FAR FAR below that oversized coffee table mentioned above, and hope to find someone who loves these little high-winding performance coupes as much as we do.If you still aren't convinced about this car's popularity and performance prowess, and how crazy people are/were for them, I HIGHLY recommend reading the nearly FOUR HUNDRED COMMENTS from previous owners and enthusiasts that accompanied the auction of the low-mile car mentioned above. Their knowledgeable praise of the SE-R is virtually unending, and can be found here:(Copy and paste): https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-nissan-sentra-se-r-9/MECHANICAL:This SE-R runs and drives without issue. It starts easily, idles smoothly, and drives, turns, and stops like it should. There are no check engine lights, no hesitations or ticks from the engine, no sticking brakes, etc. It also does not suffer from the commonly known "5th gear pop-out" issue (an easily correctible issue on some 5 speed Nissans of the day should it ever arise as you pile on the miles and smiles!). I installed a new $125 battery this month and also just changed the oil.BODY & PAINT:100% original body panels with the factory Aztec Red paint in excellent condition, with a deep shine, excellent panel gaps, and ZERO rust. See pictures and videos for the beautiful condition of both body and paint. There are a few shallow dings and small rock chips here and there, as to be expected of any 34 year old vehicle that's actually been driven, but nothing needing attention unless your goal is a perfect "Day 1" type finish. All of the black trim is in good condition, including door handles, side mirrors, and the factory Nissan splash guards. This car will stand tall at any car show, cruise night, or Radwood event for its overall originality and cosmetic condition.INTERIOR:The interior of this SE-R is as nice as its exterior, if not better. The gray herringbone upholstery has a touch of blue to it, and is just excellent, with no rips, tears, unusual wear, spots, stains, or weird smells. The dash, door panels (front and back) and carpet look as-new. The factory matching mats, leather wheel and shift knob are still in great shape, and all of the gauges work as designed. Wipers, horn, signals, and power moonroof all work great. The AC blows hard and cold. The trunk is pin clean and original, with two floor covers and the original jack and spare in place. The original Nissan radio does not power up, and the driving lights are currently inop (I suspect a weak ground). These are the only known inop items. I'm open to including a single-din AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo head unit I saved from another vehicle with the sale if the buyer would like.WHEELS/TIRES:The factory 14" aluminum wheels are in near perfect condition. Only the passenger front wheel has a few paint chips on the outer rim. Otherwise, all wheels have an excellent painted finish, with no other curb rash, bends, scrapes, or damage. All 4 center caps are in mint condition. Tires are top-of-the-line Michelin Pilot Exalto all season units in 185/60/14 size. Though older, they are in like-new condition in terms of tread depth, sidewall condition, color, and ability to hold constant PSI in all temps. Zero cracking, dry rot, knots, or bulging.VIDEO LINKS:Brief exterior walkaround (copy and paste link): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn5yzTtxLSYBrief interior walkaround (copy and paste link): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN0FqFzkJ88Cold Start video (copy and paste link): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76sNUiLatTACONCLUSION:I always tell my clients to buy the best example they can find of the classic ride they are searching for. You'll not only enjoy the car and the ownership experience much more, but you'll also spend less money in the long run. The problem with the 1991-94 B13 SE-R is that nice examples are virtual unobtanium, much less finding any examples at all! And don't kid yourself, these boxy, well-built, potent performance compacts are only going to get harder to find, especially unmodified originals with low mileage. Thus, values will continue to rise, especially as revered as these are among those who have lived experiences with these cars. Read the comments from the BaT auction link listed above if you still have any doubts about these cars. Stop looking at mediocre project cars that will require buckets of money, years of time, and even then won't look as nice or drive as tight as this well-preserved low mile example. Don't be the one who says later "I should've bought that car when I had the chance." Call Doug with questions. 913-461-4890.TERMS & CONDITIONS:* This is not a game.
