Vehicle Description

1988 Mitsubishi VanDelica L300
I've had this little Van around 10yrs! Needless to say it looked nothing like this when I first bought it.
Please note: this is NOT the JDM off-road Diesel van. This is an American gasoline version that came in RWD. These are RARE vans in America, specially the panel vans... which this one happens to be.
During my ownership I have:

  • Sourced custom 2-piece (welded) mesh wheels; Staggered
  • Had paint & bodywork done to it... but will need to be touched up in certain areas due to daily driving
  • Upgraded the headlamps to modern SMD
  • Sourced JDM window vent shades
  • Sourced JDM tail lamps
  • Lowered the suspension
  • Installed a Double-Din stereo - has back-up camera input but haven't installed one
  • Replaced front windshield - PITA trying to find one!
  • Replaced a lot of suspension parts
  • Had the head machined and resurfaced
  • Cleaned up the interior - used to be some sort of work van and had corresponding hooks/tie-downs

Now, keep in mind the van is almost 40 years old, so it will have some imperfections:
  • The speedometer is stuck... wont turn or go back to 0
  • Recently started making a "ticking" noise; we think a valve may be at fault
  • Because of the "ticking" it started running rough
Since the engine is from the Mitsu 4g6 family, I was thinking of just swapping it with a DOHC 4g63 turbo'ed version. Not that it needs an engine swap, just figured it would be cool to do.
There may be other things needed to be addressed, but for the most part it makes a cool running project!
