1979 mercedes 450 slc 5.0 rare Mercedes rallye homologation coupe,light weight high performance coupe factory race car.Created by Mercedes to compete in long grueling rallye races.Mercedes produced about 1600,raced a third and sold the rest to the public to qualify as a factory car(homolagation),modifications included a larger more powerful all aluminum V8(Mercedes first) with 240 hp,wider wheels,race gearing,trunk spoiler and aluminum hood and trunk for weight reduction of over 300 pounds.Very successful in racing,often placing first,second and sometimes also third.Never officially imported to U.S. by Mercedes but it is estimated only about 40 made it into U.S. through the grey market.This one was owned by the original importer before my acquisition.Only 33k miles original everything,stored 30 years will need restoration.Serial # 653,classic silver with black leather and optional automatic climate control including operation manual in german.I am a vintage Mercedes collector and want this car to be sold to someone who understands it is historic.May be the lowest mileage example left anywhere.Another seller on Ebay has listed the same motor for $6500 with unknown mileage,would you rather have the whole car with super low miles?
