Vehicle Description
Thank you for looking at my 1991 Mazda Miata. Please take a look at all of the photos and read the description below. This car will not disappoint!! This little Miata has ONLY 23,000 MILES FROM NEW. I have put 1500 of those miles on it during my ownership. I bought this car from the original owners in April, 2016. They had kept it in storage for many years with the hardtop installed. This car was purchased new from a Mazda dealer in Downers Grove, IL and remained in the western suburbs of Chicago for its entire life. IT HAS NO RUST ON THE BODY!! The underside is very clean as well. The car starts, runs and drives wonderfully. It is a B-package car that is equipped as follows (ALL OPTIONS WORK):- AIR CONDITIONING - The A/C works but I would describe it as "coolish". I never used it anyway.
- LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL
- 5-SPEED MANUAL
- FACTORY HARDTOP
- POWER WINDOWS
- CRUISE CONTROL
- AM/FM/CASSETTE WITH FACTORY HEADREST SPEAKERS
EXTERIOR: THIS CAR HAS NO RUST. TOUGH TO FIND IN THE MIDWEST. I like to describe this car as a very nice, presentable driver. As stated, this car was stored for many years. During that time, the original owners drove it very rarely just to blow the dust off. They did keep it registered every year.
- During its time in storage, items would accidentally fall against it leaving some scratches, dings, chips, etc. The original paint was a bit faded but buffed out nicely once I dug in. Again, the car is a very nice, driver quality convertible.
- The factory hardtop, mirrors and bumpers are slightly more faded but still clean up nicely.
- All of the panels are original and still have the original VIN tags.
- All paint is original down to the Mazda decal on the front bumper.
- The rear bumper has had some touch-up work performed sometime along the way.
- The original soft top has no rips and the original plastic window is clear except for some slight clouding along a faint horizontal crease. Still very usable. The leading edge of the inside of the soft top is faded due to being stored in the down position for so long under the hardtop. I planned to buy a boot cover and forget about it as we never had the top up anyway.
- The rubber window and top seals are all in great shape and do not allow water into the interior whether the soft top is up or the hardtop is installed.
- There are a couple of bigger scratches on the front driver's side fender from something falling against it. (pictured)
- Something rubbed up against the front of the passenger door leaving a slight indentation and some very minor scuffing (pictured). I didn't even notice it until I got the car home. It is hard to photograph and doesn't detract from the looks.
- The factory hardtop has a small gouge and some chipping (pictured).
- The top buttons on the center stack were pushed into the dash. I replaced the center stack "tombstone" as it was cracked in several places (as they almost all do).
- I re-wired the fuel sending unit to get the gas gauge to work.
- I installed a new fuse to get the AM/FM/cassette to work...it works flawlessly. The clock is even accurate!! The headrest speakers work as well.
- I replaced the blue airbag computer module above the steering column under the dash to eliminate the airbag light from flashing...another very common problem with these NA Miatas.
- When I bought the car, there was an old mobile phone installed on the passenger side of the dash. It would constantly fall off the hook so I removed it leaving 4 very small holes on the passenger side of the center stack that are barely noticeable (pictured). The phone was sadly just during our relocation a few months ago.
