1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible

VIN: 2Y86H423502

This is a beautiful three owner 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible. It was restored by the 2nd owner starting in 1995 as an 18 - month project, after buying it in 1991. Everything was stripped down to bare metal. All interior, doors, engine, hood, trunk, everything was removed. It was painted from the bare metal up to match its original factory paint job. The car has NO rust. The interior leather was replaced with N.O.S. seat covers. The complete restoration is factory correct. The engine was completely rebuilt with new bearings, rings, timing chain, gears, gaskets, etc. The top assembly, motor, relays, and switches have been reconditioned. All running gears, transmission, steering, brakes, suspension system was rebuilt as well. It has the original factory undercoating on the underside which is completely intact with no rust. All window parts and relays have been replaced or rehabbed. Before the restoration, the previous owner put about 100,000 miles on the car. Since the restoration, there have been only about 12,500 miles put on the car. The car has won numerous awards at events over the past 15 years. It was also a featured car 10 years ago at the closing of the Wixom Assembly Plant in the Detroit area where is was originally built. The car has truly been a Motor City area car its whole life until moving to California five years ago. The car is, was, and always has been stored in heated garages. The powertrain in this classic includes the numbers matching 430ci V8 engine tied together with the 3 - speed automatic Ford – O – Matic transmission.

I bought the car in 2019 from Vanguard Motors and brought it to Los Angeles where I drove it twice a week. WATCH THIS:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbY_ctuK-po

It's the original video from Vanguard Motor Sales of the car. It's been garaged ever since. The car has only gotten better since I've owned it. Vanguard didn't disclose the wood was warped and the carpets were ugly. I put all new wood inside, redid the carpets, and fixed many other flaws that didn't show up in their photos.

It runs perfectly, I have even driven it to San Diego and back as well as Joshua Tree with zero issues. Because of the desirability of this car, you'll find that it can be an asset and make money back for you. I was constantly renting it out for photoshoots, weddings, commercials, and it was a constant source of revenue for me. I'm only selling it because I've moved overseas. The onlyflaws are the two square black and chrome panels where the hinges are housed for the top are fading, there's a hairline crack in the drivers side dash vinyl, the leather in the front seat is showing its first signs of wear (back seat is perfect!), and the door handle chrome has lost some of its luster, all pictured above. That's it! Other than that she's perfect, inside, outside, and underneath. And especially driving! Take care of those and she's museum quality, not a single flaw in the paint! Now let me tell you about the upgrades I've made to this magnificent car since purchasing it:Reinstalled the original radio after converting it to BlueToothNew convertible topBrand new carpetsNew upgraded, modern tech, weatherproof relay and electrical system for convertible top (link below and photo above)Electrical gas pumpRemote battery kill switchEverything works on this car. All the windows, the convertible top, the power bench seats, the switches that lower and raise the back windows when you open the back doors, the power locks, the heater, and everything in between. The main problem you'll encounter on a Lincoln is the convertible top which constantly needs maintenance, however, I've installed an upgraded kit which has made the top go up and down faster and smoother than ever with ultimate reliability. The next main issue people complain about in these Lincolns is fuel supply which I solved with an electrical fuel pump, ensuring the engine starts right up every time with just a few pumps on the gas pedal no matter the weather. The next thing to look for to make sure everything is work are the micro-switches that raise and lower the back windows just slightly when you open the back doors and those are working perfectly. I've also tinted the side windows with infrared tint to keep the car cooler in the summertime. The coolest additions I've made have been reinstalling the original radio and switching it to bluetooth so you can play music off your phone and installing a bluetooth remote battery kill switch so every time you park your car, you know no one can steal it and the battery will never die. In fact, it's so effective, you can store the car for months without a trickle charger and it will start right up!
