6000 Mile Museum Worthy 1979 Lincoln Mark V Collectors Edition Time Capsule

Vehicle Description
This car was bought brand new from Manhattan Ford by an insurance executive who was a serious car collector. He drove it very occasionally until he stopped driving in 1991. The car sat in a dry garage from 1991, parked next to his 1978 Anniversary Corvette with only 2000 miles on it, until two years ago when I bought it from his heirs, who were finally selling the house. They kept the Corvette! It actually fired right up with a jump and a gas can connected to the carb, and ran well. The original Michelin tires all held air.But I had to do some work to make it properly road worthy...The tires were fifty years old and while perfect, not safe for highway speeds. All four were replaced. The spare is the untouched original, the white wall even still has the blue factory preservative on it.The car had been left with ten gallons of fuel it it. That fuel was black. For safety, the entire tank was replaced with a new one, along with the fuel lines and fuel pump. The original carb was working fine but I had it rebuilt by Steve's Carburetor, just to be sure. The brakes were serviced. The heads were pulled and rebuilt just to be safe. Valves and pushrods all done, head gaskets, etc.Cooling system and belts, all serviced and replaced as needed.AC works well, it was topped off with R-12, and two spare cans are included.Eight track stereo works, radio works, antenna was replaced, original was stuck, but will be included.Three 1979 8 track cassettes are included. One is K-tel.Heat works.Cartier clock works.Power EVERTHING. Trunk, seats, sequenced vent windows, you name it.Has auto dim headlights.Concealed headlights work properly. All lights and signals work.It has the original collectors edition leather tool kit, with the orginal flares, even an order form for replacement flares. It has the unused knipex collectors umbrella that was included.Jack and tools are there.Original manual with case, protectoplate, everything. All service records from new.Yes...it really has only 6300 miles on it.I have put on maybe 200 and don't really want to run it much higher.I do not have an indoor place to keep it anymore, so I think it is better off with someone else. I have very much enjoyed my time with it.Flaws:Part of the dashboard leather is coming up a bit and can be glued down again. There is a ding to the stainless trim on the right rear wheel. should be able to massage it out. There are a few minor scratches that can be buffed out.The "miles to empty" digital display was not reconnected when the tank was replaced and will need attention. It gets an incredible amount of attention wherever you go. It is very pleasant, quiet, and comfortable to drive. It is plenty fast enough for the real world today, it moves out smartly, cruises effortlessly at 90, and has decent brakes. It was the most expensive car in America in 1979, $29000, more than a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. It's not a "malaise era" dog...it was the top of the line and built with pride to a very high standard. And then, one year later....the cars got smaller and lighter, the steel and even the glass was thinner, to save weight for fuel economy. This was the last and maybe the best of the giants.No...fuel economy is NOT it's strong suit!I have not driven it enough to establish the miles per gallon, but I would guess it to be at ten or less. But who cares? And I only feed it premium. Not needed, but makes me feel better.Oh yeah...two 1979 quarts of quaker state oil and an unused spout are in the trunk. The original owner was a car guy, so he wanted to be prepared. He also kept a spare clean button down shirt in the trunk. You get that, too.I have not looked but I would assume the original build sheet is under the back seat. I have not looked. The car is located in 07417, New Jersey. It is titled and registered and insured in my name.I DO NOT ACCEPT EBAY PAYMENTS FOR CARS.Ebay automatically adds ebay payments to my car listings, I do not know how to delete it.You can pay the deposit via ebay, but the rest:Terms are simple, $500 non refundable deposit immediately, full payment due within 72 hours, WIRE TRANSFER ONLY. No paypal, venmo, carmel, or anything else; and no cash on pickup. After that you have ten days to pick up the car unless other arrangements are made, I do want it out of my driveway, space is an issue for me.I have no problem working with your shipper, I know they can be flaky and I will always do my best to make things work out.Even if it means some guy who does not speak a word of English showing up at my house unannonuced at 1am to pick up a car...which happened a few weeks ago.Anyway...ask questions, and enjoy.I consider myself a very lucky person to have found a thing like this, brought it back into the world, and driven and enjoyed it for a while, but I only ever considered myself a temporary custodian for this one, someone with a place to store and display this indoors really needs to be the owner.
