Offered for your consideration is a very unique 1990 Santana Land Rover 109 in “Sahara Dust”.

Manufactured in Spain under license of Land Rover, the Santana trucks have several Mediterranean market features that are unique to them including series-style wheel arches, distinct lighting and grille design, as well as several other stylistic features, like the center-line on the hood that make them quite fun and unique.

This example was imported by and purchased from Motoriot in Kent, CT still retaining most of the distinct red clay/dirt from Spain where it was used as an agricultural vehicle (see chassis photos). Perhaps the best feature is the gorgeous maroon leather/white piping upholstery work that was done in Spain (Seats 10 people!). It has lived in a clean dry garage since purchase and is essentially frozen in time from its state at import with an absolutely gorgeous patina that shows loving use/age without abuse. It has not been driven in salt/snow since coming stateside.

Having lived in dry/arid Spain its whole life, the truck is very clean and dry with nothing beyond light surface rust on some areas of the chassis and drivetrain.

I am selling this vehicle for my neighbor, who purchased it in hopes of daily driving, but has realized it is far from comfortable, especially in cold weather.

The vehicle features a 2.5L naturally aspirated diesel motor and starts, runs, drives, shifts, stops adequately.

One of the major gripes the owner has with the vehicle is the road noise – this can be improved with sound deadening material and ensuring the floor pans/transmission tunnel are properly “buttoned up”

The good:

-Ready to drive runner - Starts, runs, drives, stops etc

-Motor has good compression/pulls nicely

-Gorgeous leatherwork and upholstery done in Europe and in great fresh shape

-Awesome Sahara Dust Paint color

Relatively rust-free

-Clean title

Potential improvements:

- Loud/vibrations/road noise - could benefit from installation of sound deadening, weatherstripping etc

- Paint shows its age/has some wear

- Motor is a bit smokey/burns some oil – to be expected on old diesels

- Many people like to install the Defender headlight surrounds (Square)
