Vehicle Original VIN : 17 zerosIntroducing Project OlympiaFirst registered 23/11/1964 This series 2 was purchased new by Searle to be converted into one of their camper conversions.This vehicle is completely original as sold by Searle in December 1964 to the first keeper Maurice Edward Kitton of Kent. Service paperwork, Land rover and Searle handbooks accompany this vehicle along with buff registration documents detailing ownership transfer to the second owner who purchased the vehicle in May 1965 for £1345 at the Olympia Motor show from Searle trading in his Sunbeam for £400.We purchased the vehicle from the second owner John at his country residence where the land rover had been garaged in his stable block and laid dormant for a few years. Prior to being laid up had been used for many holidays with his wife venturing into Europe on several occasions including a trip to Monaco he recalled during our exchange.We have serviced the land rover, overhauled the brakes and replaced the exhaust, steam cleaned, and wax oiled the chassis, repainted the steel wheels, recovered the front seats in matching material and road tested it. Mechanically running well having only covered 31324k miles from new, the drive chain is smooth in operation and the 2286cc petrol engine starts willingly with little choke from cold and sounds like a Swiss watch.The bodywork and conversion are completely original including the paint and has kept very well from indoor storage. The interior is as it left Searle, complete with sink bowl and original plastic, plates bowls and teacup set. cooker, fridge and storage drawers.
