Vehicle Description

Solid unrestored 1981 Land Rover 109 Series III wagon, in three-door configuration. Completely stock and original except for an old repaint. This is a solid, 90% rust-free example of the desirable V8 powered 109 Landie. It was purchased from a South African fellow while attending Army Officer Basic course at Ft. Huachuca, AZ a number of years ago.It was brought home to Northern California and it basically lived on a private vineyard property in Petaluma for the last few years.I had big plans to turn this 109 into an overlander. Then kids came along. One with autism, which ultimately took every ounce of free time I ever had.Regretfully, an unplanned early retirement from the military, health concerns and the increasing demands of two young children with ASD have changed all my plans.I started with the basic mechanicals and basic items like tires, brakes, battery, hoses, fuel pump and the like. Sadly, the time to do what I wanted to do to this Landie just isn't there anymore.Suspension is a stock heavy-duty setup with Salisbury axles and leaf springs. New shocks, rear brakes, wheel bearings and all new tires with less than 200 miles on them. A new fuel tank, pump and strainer, new brake master cylinder, wheel bearings and rebuilt alternator. This Series III has lived its entire U.S life in the West coast, first in Arizona and subsequently in the SF Bay area. Hence, it is dry and virtually rust-free.Stock 3.5L 8 cylinder V8 ran well until parked. It was last driven regularly in 2023. It will likely need the fuel tank flushed and new gas put in, change some fluids and the dual carbs gone over to run tip top. I had them redone twice but they couldn't get them dialed in right. My original plan was to put an Edelbrock aluminum intake with a Holley 600 and add PERTRONIX electronic ignition. Thus, they weren't a concern at the time. Unfortunately, my priorities have shifted dramatically and I can no longer distract time or money, which is needed to address my children's needs.I believe this 109 was a former British Telecom vehicle due to the yellow peeking under the old blue in some chipped spots. Still looks good for such an old paintjob.I did have the roof completely refinished two years ago, as well as the factory steel wheels. They came out quite nice.Stock black/gray interior. Needs door panels ( I purchased a brand-new pair from Paddock's and they disappeared at the shop where the carbs were done). Headliner is good. Seats are solid.Clear-titled in AZ. Off the road in CA the entire time.Delivery available nationwide or overseas.
