This 1974 Land Rover 109 Series III is a left-hand-drive example that was modified by Rosenbauer for fire service use in Austria and reportedly remained with the Thaur Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years before being retired.It is powered by a 2.5-liter Td5 turbodiesel inline-five linked with a five-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive conversion.Additional details include a lifted coil-sprung suspension, 16″ steel wheels, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires, ARB air lockers, four-wheel disc brakes, and a galvanized roof rack, front bumper, and ladder in addition to an air intake snorkel, Hella off-road lights, headlight guards, rock sliders, a vented tropical roof, a folding windshield, air conditioning, and a Pioneer head unit.Imported to the US in 2010, this 109 Series III was acquired by the current owner at that time and is now offered on their behalf in Connecticut with an owner’s manual, a Nanocom Evolution TD5 ECU Tuning Computer controller, an assortment of spare parts, and a clean New York title.The truck is finished in red and features Thaur Volunteer Fire Department door markings and a galvanized roof rack, front bumper, and ladder. Exterior details include an air intake snorkel, Hella off-road lights, headlight guards, rock sliders, a vented tropical roof, a folding windshield, a recessed front grille, cowl vents, and a pintle hitch. Rust is present on the rear bumper, see lower right corner in photo. This was because it was backed into a rock offroad about 10 years ago (only the bumper hit the rock at like 3mph)The truck rides on a lifted coil-sprung suspension and features four-wheel disc brakes and 16″ steel wheels mounted with 255/85 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires. A matching spare is mounted on the rear carrier. Service in January 2025 is said to have consisted of performing an alignment following replacement of the pitman arm, steering rods, and steering stabilizer.The cabin features front bucket seats, three-across second-row seating, and inward-facing rear benches.
