Vehicle Description

This 1955 Jeep is a military spec M38A1. It is the rugged military Jeep that the CJ-5 was based on. It was 'civilianized' with chrome wheels and a beautiful dark green paint job but retains it toughness, military ID plate, gauge cluster and combat headlamp switch. It is a classic off-road vehicle with a green interior and dark green exterior color. This SUV has a 3 speed T-90 manual transmission, 4 cylinder engine with 4WD, making it perfect for exploring rugged terrains. With features like auxiliary heating and a trailer hitch, this vehicle is not only stylish but also functional for outdoor adventures. A new winch was recently installed. This Jeep passed New York State Inspection within the last month, and comes with a clean vehicle title, making it a reliable choice for anyone looking for a vintage vehicle with modern capabilities.
The Jeep received a complete engine rebuild in 2024. It starts right up and runs smoothly. It shifts as it should. The four wheel drive system is fully functional.
It has been converted from the original 24 volt military system to a modern 12 volt system. It comes with a removable soft top and doors (an upper hinge needs to be added to mount the doors). All of the gauges work with the exception of the fuel gauge, which will need a fuel sending unit. The wipers will need replacement. It has five great tires with no cracking or dry rotting. The true mileage is unknown as the odometer was replaced some time in the past.
Thousand Invested, ready to drive and enjoy!
