Vehicle Description

The popular Ford Woody Station Wagon became the 'must have' car for the beach scene in the early 1960s. The nearly 20 year old wagons were bought cheap, abused, and discarded. In the late 1970s and for the following 50 years there after, the restoration, rebuilding and reconstruction of these beautiful Wood Bodied Station Wagons became a huge industry. Many builders sourced frames, floor pans, engines, hardware and proceeded to build new wood bodies. Many of their builds were better than new with hand selected woods, better jigs, glues, joints, and precision tooling. A lot more time was spent, skilled craftsmanship was performed for a better than the original car. Many beautiful cars were built. HOWEVER, they were no longer original. So, if an original Woody matters to you, this stock and well preserved Ford Super DeLuxe Wagon delivers!
Fortunately, this Ford Super DeLuxe Wagon was spared the fate many other wagons experienced. This wagon retains almost all its original Ford Iron Mountain, Michigan wood, with just a few minor repairs. The original factory fitted 100 HP Flathead V8 is still featured (serial number matching the frame and title). All three seats, wheels, and loaded with Ford Script accessories. This Ford wagon has a known origin from the mid 1970s here in Southern California, and was prepared as the feature car for the TV Detective Series Foul Play. The 1981 series was filmed in San Francisco with numerous street scenes of this Woody in action.Pictures of the Woody driving downhill on Lombard St. City driving, and emergency responses with red lights and siren are provided.
When the series was finished, the production company sold the car at the Rick Cole Auction in 1985, and the new owner kept the car in his private Southern California collection until 2018. Great care was taken to preserve and keep this car as original as possible. After the car was purchased in 2018, a very extensive, sympathetic restoration was performed. All period correct replacement parts were used from the specialty vendors.
The wagon is currently driven for weekend coffee, and a Pacific Coast Hwy cruise. Extensive refurbishments include, new recored radiator and heater core, new 6 volt battery, coil, all tune up parts, rebuilt carburetor, generator, starter, new regulator, fuel pump, brake service, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, hoses and hardware. 5 new tires and tubes (original spec. 6:00 x 16) all seats recovered original style, and more. Ford script spot, fog, and backup lights all working. Very rare Ford roof rack, working vacuum windshield wipers. Fulton Sun Shade visor, and grill guard. Maintained all period correct style for commercial advertising, weddings, photo shoots.
If you ever dreamed of finding (time capsule) an all stock original Ford Woody, your dream may have come true, and with a documented history from 1980. Inspect all the pictures and see how nice and original this Woody is. Not modified or personalized, factory stock the way Ford built them. Just in time to create a Norman Rockwell style Christmas. Decorate with a wreath, lights, and a Christmas tree on the roof.
