1966 FORD MUSTANG GTReal GT, Factory 4 speed, Original PaintHere is a wonderfullyoriginal Mustang GT Coupe. It still wears it's original Wimbledon White paint. It has front disc brakes, dual exhaust, 4 bbl 289 225 hp engine, fog lights, heavy duty suspension, quick steering and the GT stripes and badging, all of which this car was born with.The car was built in San Jose, CA and sold in Los Angeles. Subsequently it has spent its entire life in California and still bears the original black and yellow CA license plates. The body on this car is completely rust free, never having had any rust whatsoever. There is no bondo on the car and every bit of sheetmetal is original. The original owner, when he was elderly drove the car when he probably shouldn't have and hit the left rear fender on something as he was driving. You can see details in the photo gallery-the area of damage is just as you see it, never having been repaired or painted.As stated previously, this Mustang still has its original paint. It is still very shiny, put has some thin areas, the worst of which is on the right rear fender as shown in the photos. There are several areas of chips and stains around the whole car. Overall the paint looks great from a little bit of distance and gives the car its wonderful original patina. The originalchrome still has shine although some of it is pitted. The red interior is mostly still original also. The front seats have been re-covered and the dash pad has been replaced. The rest is original, including the carpet which has an area of wear-through right in front of the drivers seat. The headliner is nice and tight but has a small slit in the right rear as shown in the photos. The original rear seats are nice and have no rips or tears. All of the electrical stuff works-courtesy lights, fog lights, signals, fan, gauges, etc. The fog light switch has been re-wired to work when the lights are ON. The ignition switch will sometimes stick in the starter position and can be turned back to run without consequence. The rearwindows roll up and down nicely, but the driver and passenger windows are sticky. An original owners manual is included in the sale.The original 289 A-code engine was rebuilt approximately 500 miles ago when the car was owned by the previous owner. The builder did not paint the engine correctly (blue) and instead used red paint as can be seen in the photo gallery. An aluminum radiator was installed, as well as cd ignition. The engine starts immediately and runs great. It has no leaks or smoke. The correct original factory 4 speed transmission shifts smoothly and has no issues. The car runs and drives extremely well and needs nothing mechanically.The wheels on the car now are period chrome AmericanRacing wheels and the original hubcaps have been installed on them. The car comes with 4 original Mustang rims, one of which is in the trunk (without a tire) under the spare cover. The tires have very few miles on them are date coded from 2022. In a sea of resto mods, poorly "restored" cars and fake GTs, here's a refreshing survivor that has never been mucked with. It is a car that could be proudly driven as-is (or pay a visit to a talented paintless dent guy and see what they can do with the fender). It is extremely uncommon to find a factory GT 4 speed in anywhere close to this kind of original condition. Don't miss out on this opportunity.
