Vehicle Description

1979 Ford F100 Custom – Excellent Mechanical Condition! Rock Solid Frame and Cab!

The sixth generation of Ford’s F-Series (commonly called "Dentsides"), was produced by Ford Motor Company from 1973 to 1979. The engine placed into the 1979 F100 was a 300 CID, straight 6 which produced 117 hp. Renowned for its toughness and reliability, the “Dentside” series of trucks became the best-selling truck in the United States in 1977 and have held this position ever since. Outside of its proven reliability and the torque of the engine, the best part of this series was Ford’s decision to use increased levels of zinc in the chassis and body. This decision made these trucks notoriously resistant to rust and, after 46 years of use, this truck particular shows what a good decision Form made. That is, this particular truck is mostly rust free and, with the exception of surface rust and a hole in the bed, is almost rust free.

I bought this truck from a local guy who needed cash for another vehicle and immediately began to mechanically restore it at my shop in Conroe, Texas (google Bargain Brakes, Conroe, Texas). The mechanical restoration required the following work to be performed:

· New tires – Toyo Open Country 215/75 R15

· New sparks plugs

· New ignition control module

· New distributor cap and rotor

· New plug wires

· New fan clutch

· New 3 row aluminum radiator

· New radiator hoses

· New valve cover gasket

· New PCV valve

· New water pump

· New belts

· New fuel hose

· New heater hoses

· New oil pan gasket

· New clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing

· New rear main seal

· New control arm bushings

· All fluids changed

· New fuel filter

· New oil filter

· New gas tank

After completing this work, I had the truck buffed, polished and waxed to give it a very nice patina. The truck is in excellent mechanical shape and it shows very well. I have personally driven the truck at 70 mph on the freeway and over 100 miles. The speedometer works but the odometer does not. The turn signals, brake lights and headlights work. The truck does not overheat, it does not leak oil, its shifts smoothly and can be driven literally anywhere. The truck will be sold on an Indiana title issued in 2019. The VIN is F108BNFB0840. The truck was previously registered in North Carolina.

This is a “buy it, drive it, enjoy it” truck which has tremendous upside on the collector market.

It is priced aggressively for a quick sale.
