Vehicle Description

Standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona, such a fine sight to see. It's a girl! My Lord, in a flat bed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me....E-Bay seems to think this is a F-550, but it isn't. It's a F-600 flatbed. Current registration and clean title. And this is your change to own a great farm truck as well as a bit of musicology. Experience nostalgia and reliability with this 1966 Ford F-600, a testament to classic American engineering. 24,000 pounds GVWR mean this truck can carry ten tons of anything. It has a tilting flatbed, with optional stake sides. This left-hand drive 2WD model comes with a 5 speed transmission and two-speed axle. The transmission has been professionally rebuilt and shifts nicely. The two-speed axle also shifts perfectly. The tires are all good as well. Brake shoes were inspected; front ones about 50% used, rear ones nearly new.The engine is Ford's FT series, the truck version of the FE motor, and displaces some 332 CID or thereabouts. I had the carb rebuilt so it starts and runs great. This truck has been a working truck on the family farm here since new. We used it for hay bales, hauling cattle, and other farm chors. It's always been garaged, so the body is rust free but does have a couple of dents. The passenger door is dented and won't open from the outside. I got a replacement door from a junkyard; it is in a box on the bed of the truck. The truck's sole problem is the brakes don't work. I installed a new master cylinder and had the brakes bled, professionally, twice. Each time they worked great for awhile, but then went flat again. They are power brakes; there is a vacuum booster under the bed. I'm not a real mechanic, so I am not going to try to fix the brakes again. This company offers an upgrade:https://www.battlebornbrakes.com/product-page/ford-f600-vacuum-super-duty-booster-master-kitbut as noted I am not a mechanic so I am going to let someone else care for and love this beautiful old truck.Pics include the nameplate with VIN and other codes, so you can see what sort of transmission, axle, etc it has. There is also a nameplate for the Heil brand hydraulic bed.The interior is pretty clean for a truck of its age. The lights work. The bench seat is solid. Please message me if you have questions or need pics of something specific. The truck is in Lewiston, Idaho. If you think you can fix the brakes here, you can drive it home. There is space to work on it.p.s. Girl not included. ;-)
