1958 Edsel Ranger Coupe White

Vehicle Description
1958 Edsel “Ranger” coupe project car that would be a great (inexpensive) weekend cruiser for somebody looking for a project.
Vehicle Details
The Edsel was included in a package deal for some early and more desirable Chevy vehicles so it was low on the list of getting worked on.
If you’re not familiar with them, Edsels are under the Ford Motor Corp umbrella but don’t use Ford parts since they had specific Edsel engines, chassis, fuel system.
This one has a Ford 352 block/3 speed column shift transmission from a 60s Galaxie so at some point the original engine was damaged & replaced. This makes sourcing parts much easier but it’s not factory original.
I’ve replaced/rebuilt the entire brake system as well as the fuel system. The original tanks do not exist nor do reproductions so a Galaxie tank was modified/fitted. That required cutting out the spare tire well in the trunk which will need to be patched with a piece of sheetmetal.
All new fuel lines, fuel pump, rebuilt carb and filter have also been installed.
The wiring under the hood was pretty poorly done (previous owner might of been British and poorly thought wiring is their specialty) so I repaired the biggest mistakes but haven’t had time to fully connect the new coil to fire the car. It does have a new Optima yellow top battery included.
We also replaced the starter bendix since the original was damaged along with adding new sparkplugs, water pump, hoses and other assorted under hood parts.
It comes with a complete, (new) set of insanely expensive reproduction tail lights. Since nobody makes them, Edsel fans have guys that will run small batches of reproductions that are hundreds of dollars to acquire, if you can get a set.
The tires are 9 months old and the factory pie pan hubcaps look pretty good with decent chrome and minor dents.
The body has areas of rust but it’s a California car. Most of the rust was due to it sitting under a tree and debris accumulating under the hood which held water. The A pillars have very minor rust. Doors have rust along the lower edges. The front half of the pan is solid but the rear portion is flakey with some holes.
The dash will need new gauges, radio and glovebox lock.
Windshield and passenger window are cracked.
It’s far from perfect but still a good base to build from.
