Vehicle Description

1949 Dodge Pilot House/5 WindowLike D150/D100NO RESERVE!
The high bidder will get this beautiful patina '49 Dodge truck. This is one that was retired about 20 years ago, and we drug it out of the back of a barn. It was parked there after harvest, and like many farms, they updated to a larger truck. This one is extremely solid, and will make someone a wonderful project.
I have had this truck in my shop for a day or 2 tinkering with it, so I can give you a pretty accurate description of what it is going to need. I cleaned the points and put in new spark plugs and some fresh gas, it started but ran rough. After pulling the spark plugs back out and checking for compression. I realized that 3 intake valves were stuck. After a can or 2 of PB Blaster and an hour or so of playing with it, I got 2 to free up, so - good compression on a 5 cylinders, one valve still stuck. With a little more run time, and some more PB, I would think that one will free up also - I had the truck running off its own fuel tank, and fuel pump, but the fuel pump does leak. I am sure the carb will need a kit, and points, condenser, and wires would be a good idea. Basically all stuff a novice mechanic can tackle in a weekend. Would make for a great father/son project. I did run it long enough to let it get to temp - it carries 40lbs oil pressure and doesn't overheat. No coolant leaks that I noticed, although hoses are old. The condition of the body is amazing - very little to no rust, just a couple dings here and there. The odometer shows 53k miles, and I would guess that is correct. I do have the seat back and bottom - they will come with the truck, but will need to be re-upholstered. I also tried out the PTO/hydraulic dump bed and it works as it should. It has a 10ft bed and a short wheel base which should make it very easy to get around in, and also easy to haul home. It is only one foot longer than my half ton short bed GMC pickup as you can see in the pictures. All in all just a great original old truck that needs a little work to get back on the road, or in the next parade! This great ol' Dodge will come with a good Kansas title. I have the name of a good shipper and can help with that also. Please call or text Cort at 620-786-5172 with any questions. And I do have free storage until you come get it, and will load it free of charge as well. Thanks and good luck!
