Vehicle Description

I bought this beautiful 1967 Dodge Dart in August 2004 from an Ebay seller in Kansas. It had been recently modified with a mild 440 engine, 4 speed transmission, wider wheel tubs, and a fresh beige/yellow repaint of the original color. Right away I started attending car events, mainly Car Craft Magazine (anti) power-tour events in 2004-2005, traveling to destinations such as Phoenix, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Las Vegas. I was under-whelmed by the 440's performance, as it was very mild. I swapped in a 496 (stroked 440) from my son's 1969 GTX that we had recently built up, using the best components available (list upon request). I then entered the Dart in Mopar Muscle Magazine "True Street Challenge" Oct 2007 issue. The Dart finished third out of eight cars featured. This was based on build quality, street manners, and drag strip performance. The Dart was never a dragstrip car, but It has been down the 1/8 mile at Irwindale (7.34 seconds@98.1mph), and also 1/4 mile at altitude Las Vegas Motor Speedway (11.55 seconds@119.8mph).
After the True Street Challenge event, I took off the Victor hi-rise 440 Edelbrock intake and Demon 850 carb, and installed a AA Transmission's 440 cross-ram with two Edelbrock 500 cfm carbs. This gave the 496 the appearance of Mopar's famous "Super Stock Dodge" 413 and 426 engines from the early 60's. I love the look, the performance, and sound of the engine in this new configuration. As you see in the pictures, I bought a fiberglass hood from Unlimited Fiberglass and painted it with the correct matte-finish textured black paint used on the1968 Dodge Hemi Dart hoods, also the Super-Bee and Super-Bird fiberglass hoods.
Current configuration of the drivetrain is 496 cu in w/billet mains, Eagle crank & H-Beam rods. 10.5:1 forged Ross flat-top pistons, Edelbrock aluminum heads, crane 1.6:1 roller rockers, .573" lift solid Comp Cam with 108-degree lobe separation. Muscle Motors forged crank with 4.15 inch stroke. For lubrication, A Miloden, 7-quart oil pan fits nicely, even with the oversized roll bar installed. For spark, installed is MSD 6AL ignition, Exhaust features TTI 2" headers into 3" exhaust with 12V cut-outs installed and operational. Transmission is a Tremec TKO600 with .61 overdrive 5th gear. Rear end is Chrysler 8 3/4" with Moser axles and 3.73 gear set. Currently running Nitto 28" tall 555R drag tires mounted on 15" x 10" Weld Wheels with 7.25" backspacing. Disk Brakes in front, drum brakes in back. Stock suspension with welded frame connectors, stock appearing mini-tub. Custom ordered aluminum twelve-gallon fuel cell fits nicely in place of the spare tire.
I would not hesitate to jump in the Dart and drive across country. Excellent 16-17 mpg using 91 octane unleaded with 1 quart VP octane additive per tank. You can drive without the VP additive, but you will hear pre-ignition on inclines in warm weather. A beautiful stock AM radio is in place in the NOS dash plate. But an under-dash AM/FM Sony radio plays tunes provided by Pandora on my cell phone. Premium front speakers are in the kick panels and premium rear speakers are in the stock location. Also, I have the stock hood and a pair of velocity stacks if you want them, although shipping the hood would be sketchy.
I am 75 years young now and feeling less likely to wrench on the car as I have in the past. This Dart is a rare find and perfect for any Mopar enthusiast. I will miss the Dart and hope it ends up with the right custodian! Nothing on the Dart needs attention, runs perfectly. Valves are set at .016 intake, .018 exhaust and that's all you need to know for maintenance, along with a fresh Wix oil filter and oil blended for use with solid tappet cam. Have fun!
Ask questions through Ebay and I will post answers on Ebay. I do have a walk-around video with engine idling I took that is too large to load on Ebay, but I can text it to your cell phone upon request. Bid with confidence.
