Vehicle Description

For Sale...1974 silver blue/dark blue signature paint Bob Sharp GT33 260Z with a 1/74 build date -1 of only a few remaining examples of the 1974 to 1978 run of GT33's produced at Bob Sharp Motors in Wilton, CT. that he had built using a selection of his racing developed accessories. It's remarkable that any exist owing to the harsh winters and road salt use in the New England area.
The Weber carbs are rebuilt and it idles nicely and responds well to throttle. The charging system is functioning and the cooling system maintains a safe temperature. The factory 4-speed transmission moves well and freely to reverse and from 1st to 4th with no binding. The compression readings are as follows: #1-110, #2 -110. #3-115, #4 -115, #5-115, #6-90. The more the engine has run, the better the compression has gotten. There's a video of the engine running and revving.
There's not a lot known of these cars("nobody" knows the actual number of cars produced, but it's 30 or less). This 260Z GT33 is believed by me to be a previously unknown example of a 260Z GT33 as most of the literature pertaining to GT33's state that the 280Z was the beginning of production. The original owner told me she was told that 6 GT33's were made in 1974. Bought from original owner with full documentation. I have a clear Florida title signed by the original owner only. Has 109,444 miles showing on the odometer. Last registered in 2000.
IncludesMinilites with Bob Sharp center caps(faded) and most other Bob Sharp options shown on paperwork. Missing front spoiler(identical "brake cooling" spoiler is still in production) driver's side headlight cover(available) 1 Carello lens(available), tuned exhaust and Coco mats.
Somewhat rough, but worthy of repair, due to it's rarity and it's role in Datsun history. Most of the systems on this GT33 will need to be gone throughand sorted, as well as under body, panel repair and some interior work.I will provide a good hatch, white head liner, wheel well repair panel, inspection lids andinspection lid mounts(need to be welded), tail light area repair panel w/top section(replace/weld), radiator shroud, passenger arm rest, wiper arms/nuts, license plate light, fan blade and pulley, hardware/linkage for Webers, vapor canister w/mount, front/rear brake calipers and whatever else I can find to help things along.

Areas in need of work or replacement include floor pans, radiator support, inspection lid mounts, battery tray area, under body rail repair, some hatch area repair, like most Zcar's of this era. Needs exhaust, gas tank, window mechanisms sorted, clutch and brake master cylinder, tachometer, oil pressure sensor.Accelerator linkage is stuck(have applied Blaster multiple times). Brake calipers/drums, rear spoiler and rear bumper need reinstalled.
Mopar had Mr. Norm, Chevrolet had Yenko, Ford had Shelby and Datsun had Bob Sharp. There aren’t a lot of limited production Z cars to go around…There is the 1977 ZZZap Zcar and the 1978 black pearl and several special edition ZX’s. Here’s your chance to own a piece of Datsun history. The last thing I want to do is to part itand discard a piece of Datsun history, sold by a man that contributed greatly to the Datsun brand.Ideal purchaser would be a Z car restoration shop with full access to needed parts, but considering that all of the needed under body supports and panels are available, could be done by anyone experienced in welding. Please ask questions as it's extremely difficult to cover all the needs of a nearly 50 year old Datsun. This has been a burden for me deciding what to do with this rare 260Z, as I'm a devoted Datsun guy. I decided to invest in getting the motor running with the hopes that someone or group would want to step up and bring it back...Thank you to those considering saving it.If you’re interested, make an offer. All offers will be seen and considered. It’s extremely difficult to place a value on a car like this, but you can probably put a price on the restoration costs. I am not knowledgeable enough to estimate that amount, but I am in a position to value the parts, which I place at between $4500-$6000.
There are additional pictures available on 2 other information-only ads. If you want to see pictures of the paperwork and other documentation, please see item # 305069116920 and to see pictures of the body areas in need of repair, please see item #304885326759 that can be cut/copied and pasted in the search bar for quick viewing.Pick up welcomed or I will be available when transport arrives. - This GT33 is located in Plant City, FL. 33566.
