1984 Chevrolet G20 A-TEAM Tribute Van

Vehicle Description
1984 Chevrolet G20 A-TEAM Tribute Van
Yep, that’s right, it’s the A-TEAM van (replica). The show we grew up on in the 80’s. I personally built this van in my garage four years after purchasing a plain white van. The project took about four months.
What can I say, the van is an absolute hit everywhere I go. I’ve won a couple awards at various car shows. If you’re of age, you’ll have plenty of nostalgic conversations about the show in the 80’s with people. It’s guaranteed to put smiles on faces.
THE VAN:
1984 Chevrolet G20 Van disguised to look like the GMC Vandura (same van, different emblems). Original 305 V8 has seen some miles (157k?). It has never left me stranded and runs well. Occasionally, I’ll get a little engine smoke out of the exhaust at idle. Factory equipped w/ A/C, but it doesn’t work, and I have never investigated it. It could be as easy as a recharge, but who knows. The undercarriage is clean for the age. No huge rust issues, just light surface stuff as shown. Updated TH400 trans shifts great. I had plans to just throw a crate 383 in it, but of course never got around to it. Many steering components (tie rods, arms, bushings) were replaced a year ago (less than 300 miles since). Odometer reads 56,797, but likely could be turned over (156,797).
THE BUILD:
The plain white plumbing van was transformed in my garage by: Painting the three colors after some minor body work, changing the dash blue to gray, building an overhead shelf that houses the police scanner and CB radio like the show has, redoing the entire interior by adding carpet, newer seats (from a Honda van), lighting, and carpeting the walls. Don’t forget the cool (but fake) guns and grenades and of course the retro reel-to-reel and headset that B.A. Baracus used to listen in on people with. I also added some LED lighting for ambiance. Sourcing the wheels was quite the task. They are 15x10’s all around and adapters are used. The stance is wide to match the fender flares. Exhaust sounds good and deep, fits the part. All of the exterior fog lights (new old stock) are wired up as well.
The fiberglass components (spoilers, flares, etc), were purchased new from a company in California that is no longer in business. Upgraded Bluetooth stereo with 4 speakers and a reverse camera mounted on dash. The A-Team series in the 80’s used up to 12 vans for the shows. The first versions were painted with gloss paint (as mine is) and later were painted with matte paint as it helped with camera reflection. Despite opinions, the van was painted the three colors mine is. The newer television series used an all black paint job, but my van is a tribute to the original 80’s show. While the build is not 100% exact, it’s pretty close. You could source the fiberglass mirror caps, a quad square exhaust tip, and a sunroof if you really wanted to dial it in to be 100%. I also do have a solid (non-window) sliding door I recently picked up but it will needed to be painted to match.
The van is currently registered in Utah under Vintage plates (in my name). I’ll leave the plates on it (you can reissue them in Utah). Clean Utah title is in my name.
And yes, all of the props, toys, books, poster, AND black display carpet and red-chained stanchions for car shows are included! You’re ready for the next car show. First time out I won Best Van at the Autorama. I’ve received many “choice” awards in this epic van at various car shows since. If you're a big guy like me (last pic), I might even throw in the costume! :-)Build video on YouTube:https://youtu.be/UimdWL08X_8 I’m a car guy at heart and just have too many cars. I can’t drive them all and feel it’s time to part with some so people can enjoy them. Located in South Jordan, Utah.
