Vehicle Description

It used to be that Ebay was a place where you could find, sell and trade hotrods with like-minded enthusiasts like yourself. Now it seems it is just high-end collectors looking for twice the value of the car with glowing write-ups. I am a real person, and I encourage you to read every word as I will outline the good and yes even the bad of my truck, as I want you to know what you are getting.

For Sale is my 1968 Chevrolet C10 ½ ton pickup. I encourage you to read the entire listing as I will go over all details of the truck. I took this truck in as part of a trade and purchased of a car I had restored. I had never restored a truck before, so I thought I would give it a shot. When I received the truck, the interior, paint and engine were in much rougher shape than I was led to believe. I have some pictures of its before state. I started by painting the truck flat black. The paint is decent, although there are a few wear and tear scratches. The body is straight and overall, the exterior of the truck looks pretty good. I have not painted the dash, or the door panels, they are still blue. It was on my list of things to do, just haven’t gotten to it. I then ripped the interior out. I replaced the carpet, seats, shifter, gauges and radio. I originally mounted the seats to the floorboard and didn’t like it as the seats sat low. I then found a mounting bracket that was designed for the truck and bolted right to the original seat bolts. The seats are still brand new and with them came a center console that was very expensive and very cheaply made. I added seat belts as well. Remember, the gas tank is behind the seats so there is not a lot of room in the cab. I replaced the non-functioning gauge cluster with a Dakota Digital package. If you are unfamiliar with Dakota gauges, all the sending units go to a master control box that is mounted under the center console and a single CAT-5 (computer cable) runs to the cluster. The adjustment control (odometer reset, scroll, etc.) is mounted to the right of the driver’s seat. https://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=776/category_id=421/mode=prod/prd776.htm I took out the garbage cassette player that had been installed and replaced it with a Memphis Bluetooth radio and put a factory original plate over the radio hole. The Memphis radio is mounted under the center console as well. You connect your phone to it via Bluetooth and control it from the app. You can also control it with a manual control that is mounted to the right of the driver’s seat. I get in the truck, turn it on and my phone connects, and I play Spotify. I can also play AM/FM. There is a speaker mounted under each of the seats, as I said, not a lot of room to mount anything. There are also speakers mounted by the kick panels by your feet. https://www.memphiscaraudio.com/product/smc2a/ There was a garbage B&M shifter with a plastic housing that I didn’t like so I replaced it with a B&M 81052 Pro Stick Black Automatic Shifter with Stealth Magnum Grip, the same shifter I have in my drag car. This was a mistake as while this shifter is great for racing, it can be a real pain in the butt. It takes two hands to put it in reverse, one to hold the reverse lockout and the other to move the shifter. Looks super cool with the black interior, not sure it is worth the hassle.

The carpet is all new and all the cables are run under the carpet. The next stop was the engine. After careful observation of about 20 seconds, I knew that the engine had to be replaced. I ordered a brand new, 350 4 bolt main from Jeggs, but it came from ATK. The engine has less than 200 miles and still has the break in oil. The engine was pretty much stock, no cam, or pistons. https://atkhp.com/product/atk-hp291p-chevy-350-base-engine-325hp/ I painted the engine black with high temperature engine primer and paint. It has finned valve covers and air cleaner. It has an MSD-85555-Distributor and MSD Blaster coil. https://www.amazon.com/MSD-85555-Distributor/dp/B01JP2KHOCan It has a MSD 31293 Black 8.5mm Super Conductor Spark Plug Wire Set that is in a straight wire management system. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PFF68Q?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_7 The headers were kept. I put a Holley 650 carburetor on it that started to flood the day before I was to take it to the body shop, so I put a cheap no name carb on it (Royal Air???) to get it to the shop and have been very unhappy with it as sometimes it doesn’t want to start (choke issue). You will get a brand new Edelbrock (still in the box) if I don’t replace it before sale. I also put a CVF Wraptor Serpentine belt system, I have since removed it, but it is included with the truck. It now has a CVF pully system with an electric water pump. More details below. https://www.cvfracing.com/small-block-chevy-all-inclusive-wraptor-serpentine-system-w-electric-water-pump-black-diamond/ I just installed a brand new, 4 core radiator with two electric fans as I felt it ran hotter than I like and still does, more on that further down.

The front hubs, rotors, ball joints and drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes. I also ran new brake lines to the front. I just installed hydraulics on this truck, and I am told it can three wheel, although I have never done it. I cannot give a lot of details on the system as I did it on a whim. It is all brand new. If you lower it all the way down, the back tires rub, but it is fine for sitting in the weeds. The wheels and tires are brand new, less than 100 miles. There are 4 toggle switches on the center console. 1) Fan 1 2) Fan 2 3) Electric water pump 4) Electric fuel pump There are six toggle switches on the dash. 1) Front lift 2) Rear Lift 3) Right Lift 4) Left Lift 5) Corner Lift 6) Corner Lift PLEASE READ!!! I have redone quite a few hot rods and always enjoyed the build and the fun when completed. Not with this truck. The first thing is I am a big guy and I have a tough time getting in and out of it. It is hard (and unsafe because I can’t move my foot to the brake quickly) for me to drive, and I have a few other cars that I enjoy way more than this truck. I have never had any fun with this truck, everything was a chore and nothing ever went easy. I think the truck is cursed to me. It seems like the simplest task turned into a major issue. For instance, I wanted a bigger pan on the transmission, simple right? Now I have a leak. I have priced this truck to sell and will not lower the price at all. If it doesn’t sell, I am going to put the cover on it and park it in the back of my shop and forget about it. This is NOT A SHOW TRUCK nor is it TURN KEY. There are plenty of those here for 45K. All of the heavy lifting has been done, but there is plenty more to do. If you do not like turning a wrench this truck is not for you. Here is everything I know to be wrong with the truck, I am sure there is more, but I want to be 100% transparent. Screwing someone over is not who I am, but the truck is sold as is and once you take possession, I am not responsible. Ignition Switch: There is a dead spot, so sometimes you have to turn the switch a few times to get it to crank. I have the new switch and will try and install it prior to sale. Transmission Leak: I assume it is the gasket, I probably will not fix it, so beware. Feel free to ask for pictures or look for yourself.

Vapor Lock: Last year in the middle of summer it vapor locked on me. After it cooled down it started up. I drove home and put an electric fuel pump and rerouted the fuel line. I have had no issues BUT it isn’t summer here yet. Runs Hot: If you let it sit and idle for extended time (12 to 15 minutes), the temperature will climb above 220. I have concluded that the headers and packing a V8 where a straight 6 was the culprit. This was one of the reasons I removed the Wraptor system. I also think the timing may be off as I noticed it dieseling when I pulled it out today. If you have questions, I will do my best to answer them but am not guaranteeing anything. Ride: With the hydraulics the back bounces a bit. My installer said that adding weight would fix that. Shifter: The shifter works fine but it is a bear to shift with the reverse lockout. If I were to keep it, I would replace it. If I think of anything else, I will correct this. This is a great truck, just not for me. It is priced to sell and would make a fun father son project. I have tried to be as honest as possible, the truck is over 50 years old and I am not the only one who had my hands on it. I hate to add this, but scammers don’t waste your time. I am old, wise and honest.

I would consider a trade, but it would have to be a good fit for what I do. Off road vehicles, baja bugs, hot rod projects, etc. Thanks for looking, ask away, but do not make me a lower offer, I just won’t respond.

Again, sold as is!
