Vehicle Description

This stunning DuPont Chromabase BM500 blue resto-mod has been a work in progress since we purchased it in 2002. It is a part of the family but the time has come for us to downsize.

This is a sweet cruiser with a 5.7 Liter, 370 hp /370 lbs torque LS1 that is connected to a sturdy Gran National 200R4 with a Bowler lock up. The 3:42 Motive gears and Eaton Posi in a 10 bolt GM diff are a great combination. The LS1 installation looks like a it came from the factory except there are no wires showing. The computer is hidden behind the front wheel. A Be Cool aluminum radiator keeps the engine and the Sanden compressor keeps the interior cool, even with the top down.

There are many subtle touches including: LeCarra steering wheel with a old style horn ring and original Fleetmaster horn button, original (non-working) radio, 46 Flying Lady lighted hood ornament, bear claw door latches and much more. The top even has a Hydro-Electric power system.

The DiamondBack BF Goodrich Radial TA (215/65/15 fronts / 215/70/15 rear) White Walls mounted on Smith Custom Wheels (15x6 fronts / 15x7 rears) with original Chevs of the 40’s hubcaps brings it all together.

If you are genuinely interested in this piece of history, I will email you a copy of the show placard that describes the car in detail. I strongly encourage you to come see this wonderful car. Naturally, this is an “as is” sale.

I have priced the car at a fraction of the restoration costs.
