1950 Caddy Hot Rod / Street Rod
Vehicle Description
* NO RESERVE! * 1950 Caddy Series 61 2 Door Hardtop Street Rod. This car is not finished. Needs interior and probably a paint job. If that's not what you're looking for then skip the rest. It is originally a Southern California car.
This car has great potential! I have finished everything major mechanically. Almost everything is brand new! I have $45k invested but I retired to Florida and dont have a shop anymore. The car has a clean Florida title. Here is the good stuff all new:
- Blueprint Engines SBC 383 stroker motor with CVF Racing Wraptor ceramic coated polished serpentine belt front drive. The motor is new not rebuilt including block, heads etc. Includes polished/ chrome AC compressor, 140 amp alternator and PS with remote reservoir. 436 horsepower/ 443 ft lbs torque. About 2 hours runtime!- TCI StreetFighter TH350 transmission and torque converter recommended by Blueprint Engines.- Dual exhaust ran to back.- 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell, aluminum radiator, electric fan, electric fuel pump, remote battery kit located in trunk, electric wiper motor.- Vintage Air Gen II AC/Heat/Defrost customized for this car.- 5 position tilt steering column with auto canceling turn and hazard switch. Vintage style steering wheel.- Completely rewired for 12V using all OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) wire no cheap aluminum coated stuff! Marine grade circuit breakers, relays. All new sockets for brake lights, turn, etc.- Custom built guage panel with Autometer Antique finish analog guages including GPS Speedometer, Tach, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Volts and Fuel Level.- Vintage style radio fits original holes in dash. Has bluetooth, usb. No speakers.
Now the rest of car:- Professionally replaced front clip with rack & pinion, disc brakes on front.- Air ride all 4 corners with compressor in trunk.- Shaved door handles and trunk.- Truck Arm rear suspension.
What needs done and notes:- I ran all hoses for AC but not hooked up to compressor yet. The compressor came with block off plate and pre oiled so not to damage it. I have not hooked the control unit up to the unit under dash because I wanted to build a custom console and mount controls there. Heater hoses are also ran but not the heater control valve. I have everything to finish the install from the kit. Hook that up pull a vacuum and charge should be in business. Don't let the wire bundle scare you in pic that's just coiled up it's plug and play to controls.- The air ride guages and switches are just laying on floor for same reason I wanted to put in console.- I have 2 bucket seats that when re-upholstered should work great. Low back that tilts forward and wide. Everyone makes the back seat out of plywood.- There is carpet it's not bad but if doing it right use it for a template and make new. Sound and heat insulation on floor and firewall.- The dash is done. I have the glove box lid and original clock removed to access AC wiring. The clock needs polished or painted or replaced and im guessing it doesnt work. Im sure the guts can be replaced with modern stuff. I did run a power wire to the area.- The windshield needs replaced it's separating around the edge. The new ones on web are around $350. Some cheaper. Other glass is good but need to work on some of the chrome inside. Good ol 0000 steel wool and dawn soap does magic! I put a before and after photo of driver cozy wing that I spent less than 5 minutes on cleaning with steel wool. Not perfect but much better.- The hood, fenders and doors need tweaked for good alignment. I can't get the hood to latch all the way just the safety but it probably needs adjustment too. Its very close to latching. Also, I bought new hood springs but can't figure how to get them to work right. Internet says probably worn hinges but they seem good to me? Read where drilling out rivets in hinges and installing bolts fixes it? I dont know so I use a prop.- The body is pretty straight. There is a spot on roof that has bubbled up the paint (rust). There are nicks and bruises in few spots. Need easily fix those and paint car. The bottom of hood also needs cleaned up and painted.- Trunk has release button under taillight where gas fill used to be. I lost the remote stuff for doors. I bought brand new kit but haven't installed it yet. Will try to before auction ends. Solenoids are in doors and trunk already.- I had front and rear bumpers re-chromed. The grill has a couple spots on it but in general most of chrome is in good shape. There are pics of the good and bad I want to be fully transparent.
I have hubcaps but like the look without them. They go with car.
I dont know how to turn secure purchase off? I prefer cash on pickup. NO TRADES! If I had room I would keep this car!
This car is very solid. It can be what you make of it with interior and paint. I wish I could see it thru but not in the cards anymore. Also comes with a new car cover! Thanks for looking feel free to contact me with any questions!
