Vehicle Description

NO RESERVE HIGHEST BIDDER WINS!I’ve attached a video of this engine running and shifting/engaging into all gears, video was taken on august 7th 2025.
This Very Rare Very Low Mileage vehicle is a climate controlled garage kept 1968 Cadillac Miller Meteor Ambulance similar to the Ghostbusters! It’san all original numbers matching vehicle has 472cu engine with a 400 Turbo Transmission. The 472 engine, 400 Turbo Transmission, body, and chassis only has 66801 original miles on them all. This vehicle has a first year, completely original stock, untouched V8 472 cubic engine (engine serial number 1486425 I believe it’s one of the first 180 or so made) which is very, very rare and was designed to be used by the US military as apossible aircraft motor/ship engine. This year 472 is built from superior, extremely strong wear resistant alloys that are not found in any other car motors to my knowledge as they are virtually wear proof and virtually indestructible with the capability to achieve extreme horsepower and torque with ease. To my knowledge only the 1968 472 is one of the strongest, toughest, and with the right tuning, is potentially capable of producing some of the highest extreme horsepower & torque of its era and even possibly today. This particular year 472 engine never got commissioned for military use so Cadillac detuned them (restrict or plates in exhaust etc) and never publicized there ability/capability putting them mostly in commercial vehicles as to try to keep secret it’s full potential of its incredible design, durability, capability and ability to achieve extreme performance from the general public. The 1968 472 is the rarest, most over engineered, most extremely well built 472 ever produced. Very few people know the quality of this engine and the power it is capable of producing. Do some research and if nothing else you will learn some incredible things about the 1968 472 engine history and it’s potential. This 1968 472 alone is priceless and if the right buyers see it, it can sell for 10’s of thousands and even more valuable with matching 400 Turbo Transmission which this vehicle has both. I haveowned this 1968 Cadillac 472 V8 ambulance since about 1990. I believe Im the second owner as I was told by dealership I purchased from back in 1990 that it was traded in by original owner and was in service up to recently before trading it in. At time of purchase it was in 100% working order needing nothing other than just about the same paint work as now to fully restore. I always kept car in climate controlled garage and only drove vehicle occasionally with the intentions to do paint work to fully restore when funds would be available to me but later when the funds came life got in the way and had other priorities so I just never did paint work I wanted 2. Btw the paint on car is really not that bad but does have some areas of chipping, etc. The ambulance it self is also completely original non molested with No body work ever being done to my knowledge so it’s 100% bondo-free. Has no cancerous rust that I’ve seen and very few small areas of minor surface rust. Vehicles frame is in excellent condition 100% solid with very light/little to no surface rust absolutely no major rust whatsoever. It’s been kept on wood blocks placed under various points of the frame since shortly after the last time it was driven and has never sat directly on rims even though tires are no good now and don’t hold air due to dry rot. It has 66801 miles on all original 472 engine, transmission, and chassis. The only parts I have ever replaced on this car was an ignition coil I replaced with an old stock oem ignition coil I found sitting on dealer shelf since the 70’s and installed last year other than that a new battery installed 4 or 5 years ago. So vehicle is truly 99.99999% original with only the battery not being original factory equipment. Vehicle has always been started every year at least once a year. At this time there seems to be no fluid leaks of any kind. Vehicle starts right up and purrs like a kitten. I started it again today!!! The interior is in almost pristine condition with no cracks in dash, no rips, tears or stains on seats or interior upholstery with the exception of one, approximately a 3/4 inch tear in the rear headliner other than that it’s very close to perfect for age. Also included is original lights, gurney, stair chair, oxygen equipment,2 jumpseats,, storage cupboards, seatbelts, refrigerated compartments, hubcaps including an extra, selector switch, has 2 different sirens and a PA system. Also has original sliding window, linoleum flooring, rear heating, and has 5 doors. Has a clean and clear title in hand and numbers match on engine, transmission, and chassis. There is minor paint chipping on the roof and very few places on the body most of the clear coat even still maintains it luster. Needs very little restoration overall to put on the road with new tires (current tires do not hold air), may need brake pads/shoes, maybe fresh fluids for engine and transmission and it should be good to go. To make 100% perfectly restored would need very minor body work ( mostly sanding) and paint. Btw All roof light lenses have no cracks fogging, or damage.Vin # Z8277950. This is a great example of a heated garage kept find and this vehicle is very rare to find let alone with this 1st year 1968 472 V8 engine and transmission factory installed, that is highly sot after by people that are in the know about this particular engine and transmission combo. It is almost impossible to find this particular 1968 ambulance with this engine transmission combo being completely original (other than an ignition coil which I purchased an old stock oem factory replacement and a battery) and non-molested in this good of condition for its age. The only reason I’m selling cause I now need the space for a business I’m going to be starting soon. ForPICK UP you will need pay deposit within 24hrs and balance paid in full via cash, cashiers check (certified check must clear before pickup), or PayPal (2% additional fees for PayPal payment also must clear before pickup) and arrange to pickup date/time within 7 days of auction end with the understanding that you will need to bring a large trailer/large rollback with winch or have towing company lined up to move due to tires are no good and hasn’t been on the road since about 1993. I’ve taken the time, energy, and information I have to write this as to accurately, honestly, describe and inform anyone who’s has interest in purchasing this vehicle so it is represented correctly and truthfully to my best ability. Again good luck on bidding and I’m looking forward for this to go to its next rightful owner.
This is a link to one of the Videos I found about this engine I don’t know the video creator just found this video while doing more research on this engine and transmission:

*. I had a prospective bidder ask some very good questions I didn’t cover I description. So here’s their questions and in-depth my answers about vehicle.
Prospective Bidders excellent questions:
Hello,
Hello,Great ambulance, in great shape! So, one bench seat in front for two, and jump seat(s) in back for attendants or riders, correct? How long has the gas been in the tank please? Shippers always want to start it if they can! Will it go into neutral with the engine off? Possibly not? Once I got it here, I know what to avoid, and I'm sure you do also, but we have to try to avoid trouble, lol. Know any shippers you trust? Thanks for any information. Very nice vehicle!
My lengthy in-depth answers to these great questions:
In my opinion, I think it’s in pretty darn

good shape, for its age especially compared to others when you actually can find 1, that are untouched, and completely original unrestored condition. The engine starts, runs and sounds good. Ive attached a video with engine running and shifting successfully engaging every gear in pictures section on listing. Front bench seat has three seatbelts and two jump seats in rear all in great shape. As for the gas in it here’s the scoop new gas was added every year or three because it was started and let run this morning at least once every year 2 some years was started more than once a year. now to go further in depth, with your question I want to inform you fully, When I decided to sell the car approximately a month ago I attempted to start car like I have every other year so and the car crank but did not start. My first thought was the same as yours, so I went right to the fuel system, drained fuel tank found some varnished fuel that I was completely unaware of, so I flushed fuel tank and fuel lines then added new premium gas. To my surprise I was wrong. Car still did not start so I started to investigate ignition system. First, starting by cleaning the points, which again was not the problem and that’s when I found that the ignition coil had gone bad. I located a no old stock OEM ignition coil, purchased and replaced, and it started right up like it always did throughout the years with no trouble. By the way, I also bought a condenser which it ended up not needing, but I will include with car as a spare. Now it wouldn’t hurt to do a more in-depth cleaning the fuel system since I didn’t find varnished fuel, but you would never know that there was even varnish fuel in it because engine runs without missing a beat no misfire no stumble, rumble no knocking engine runs smooth. Also, the oil looks really good for not changing it for about 6-7 years it is a nice medium brown in color and feels between my fingers like go to oil should and feels between my fingers like go to oil should. No signs of contamination, blow by, or no metal shavings of any kind that I could detect. As far as transmission goes, I can feel it smoothly engages from Park to reverse to neutral to drive and through each gear you can enter via shifter on column. I believe you will have no trouble with transmission and it will work as it should when driving. As for Transmission fluid also looks fairly good In color, texture, and also just like the engine oil has maintained a full level has not lost a drop. To be clear, I have not moved vehicle forward or backward in quite a few years because i frame is propped up on blocks for quite a few years probably about 10 years give or take cause I noticed tires were getting pretty dry rotted with one that would get down to about 8-10 pounds within about a month or two. That’s when I decided to put wood blocks Under frame to prevent vehicle from sitting directly on rims. To be totally honest wood blocks did sinking in garage asphalt floor a bit, but still does not sit on rims but tires no longer hold air.No metal shavings of any kind that I could detect. I do recommend changing fluids just because of age but do not foresee any major issues and it’s near future. Vehicle also maintains its brake fluid, which does look a bit dirty and since I haven’t moved in sometime I do not know condition of brakes other than it maintains same fluid level, as when it was parked, which is close to full, I do not see any leaks at this time anywhere on or under car of any kind of fluids and when I push brake pedal, it feels like they work as a should so I look at that, as a good sign. All I can say, is that the brakes, may or may not need attention but with the signs I see makes me feel confident that they will operate as they should with little to no work or parts necessary but I don’t know for sure. Again, to be fully upfront and honest I didn’t notice a little antifreeze corrosion around lower rubber hose a connection point to radiator but radiator does not seem to have changed much in fluid level. I did add 4 to 8 ounces of antifreeze 3 times over the last 30+ years once about 20+ years, second about 15+ years ago and approximately 5 oz 2or3 years ago and still maintaining full level today. I fairly sure the need for adding a few ozs of fluid once a decade or so was do to evaporation cause I have not been able to detect any fluid even on card I placed under hose connection that looks mildly corroded, no antifreeze detected in oil or transmission fluid and no sweet smell smoke or condensation out of exhaust. Along with letting car run for 30+ min on mostly every start with the latest start of engine letting it run for about 45 min with no overheating or even getting any warmer than it should. As for shipper, they will have no problem starting the vehicle and letting it run as long as they need. I will ask 2 ppl I know that have more experience than me about good shipping companies and get back to you as I only assisted in shipping a motorcycle 15+ yrs ago. With new tires I believe car should run and drive fine with no major issues. I have just discovered an extremely small/minor exhaust leak at exhaust manifold it’s for sure only the gasket (happening only at the rear exhaust port drivers side). This exhaust leak just started. All in all this vehicle runs very snotty though. As for shipper, they will have no problem starting the vehicle and letting it run as long as they need. I may possibly even consider changing tires (no promises right now) for the right buyer at 100% buyers expense so it can just drive onto shippers trailer, roll back etc. or open up the possibility of possibly just driving it home if buyer chooses to take the trip. So is something that can be discussed with winning bidder. If it works out that new tires get put on and buyer decides ti drive vehicle home. I would recommend a follow car or follow truck with trailer just as a precaution. Also just fyi if you want to hire I mechanic to go over vehicle I will do my best to accommodate we can make a time and date before bidding ends for your mechanic to thoroughly go over vehicle. Good luck on bidding!!!

Thank you giving me the opportunity to answer your really good questions I really appreciate your interest!!!
